|| A small light on a vast background
“I never looked into [Warren Selvik’s] files...Why would I want to read about the man who wanted to use me as his science project?”
Stephanie never knew anything about her father other than bits and pieces of his work for S.H.I.E.L.D. from her childhood. For years growing up and entering the superhuman world she didn’t even know that she was half Asgardian until a small offhanded comment from Thor prompted her to rethink everything in her life and do some research.
During the 5 years after the Snap, Stephanie sought out and read through the archives of anything pertaining to Warren Selvik. Learning of her genetic history was a wake up call so to speak and from there she tried to learn all that she could not only about Asgard and their inhabitants, but herself as well. Everything seemed to piece together smoothly--her incredible strength as a kid, her weirdly high stamina and tolerances, being able to understand what people were saying even if she never learned the language. All this information was later confirmed by the Chronicom, Enoch, once she regrouped with Agent Mack’s team when the events of Endgame concluded.
Sometimes she still forgets. Sometimes she still just sees herself as an artificial mutant. While there’s a part of her that wants to explore deeper into her Asgardian connections(does she have any surviving relatives? Were they gods like Thor?), Stephanie feels like there’s too much of a disconnect to even begin in her search seeing as she went almost all her life without knowing.
