Marvel's ECHO, 2024
Maya, I see everything that you are. I always have. You have so much pain in you, so much rage that you can't contain it. You and I are the same. So, who's the monster?
Darnell Besaw and Zahn McClarnon as Maya and William Lopez in Marvel's Echo
Maya blasting dragula to limit the auditory advantage of fisks's men gives same energy as Daredevil smashing lights. they'd be friends if they werent fighting each other
Choctaw Nation Powwow Echo (2024) 1x05: Maya (for @lasisgood)
I was enjoying Echo just fine for three episodes but once you get to episode four?? Things ramp up SO much, it just justified watching the previous episodes completely. Just banger after banger after banger of heartfelt character-focused scenes. I wasn't a fan of them releasing all the episodes at once but honestly I feel like the binge model works best for this show.
I'm just so insane like,, Kingpin trying to constantly win Maya's affection back but by talking about how he was always there for her and never owning up for killing her father until he threw it in her face during the episode five tantrum VS Maya's grandmother avoiding facing Maya again and speaking about her with a significant amount of bitterness,, but when confronted she admitted she didn't want to be around Maya and didn't deny or defend herself against the accusations Maya threw at her. From a surface-level POV, it seems like Kingpin loved Maya more than her grandmother did, he was the only one there for her when she needed it after all (and he DOES love her in his own twisted way), but he will not apologise for his wrongdoings. He will allow Maya to become stronger than him by killing him, but he will not allow himself to become weaker in front of her. Compared to her grandmother who admits she was wrong and that she was emotionally shattered and weak. Kingpin constantly seeks out ways to communicate with Maya but never learns more than the basics of ASL himself, her family who haven't seen her in 20 years make sure to always sign whenever they speak with her. Fisk loves Maya, but he is a man who got where he is by being stronger than everyone around him and never wants to feel as weak as he was as a child again. He will never change for Maya, he will never put the hammer down. But her family can, and THAT is the difference between their love.

Fisk: I understand your pain, Maya. My father was killed when I was twelve : (
Me, thinking back to Daredevil: My brother in Christ, YOU KILLED HIM!
