Open Starter: Special Obligatory Bar Experience
//Preferred for people I've never RP'd with before or with whom I don't have current threads going! I love ya'll, though!//
Tess liked the quiet, run-down bars: the sort with the old jukeboxes in the corner where patches of the neon had faded out, where the faint tinge of cigarette smoke still managed to hang in the air in spite of anti-smoking laws, and where the felt was peeling off the pool tables to the extent there wasn't any point in chalking the tip of the cue. Other watering holes had their own appeal, but on quiet, rainy nights when a woman's feet were aching from work and all she wanted was a couple of cold ones to take the edge off, she came to places like these.
Tango clubs were better left for the weekend, just like those loud, hippie music festivals where she always wound up falling asleep in her sleeping bag before one in the morning.
The creak of the door as she shouldered her way through, combined with the expected tang of smoke caused her to grin to herself. 'Might even have the Stones on the jukebox, you're lucky enough.' Any jukebox that didn't have something from Sticky Fingers ought to be tossed out a window and ritually set on fire, anyway. "Take me down, Little Susie-- take me down," she breathed, a low little sing-song that probably made her sound half out of her mind to anyone who happened to be listening.
When she found a barstool for herself, the upholstery was a grimy, faded red plastic that 'brrraaaap'd in a particularly unflattering way as she settled down. Tess pointedly ignored that and fished a hand down the front of her button down flannel for her wallet. "Set me up with a black and tan," she ordered absently, flipping open the leather cover to thumb through the contents.
