Could you tell us more about Marvin and Avery?
Oh yeah, sure.
I haven't developed many details about Avery or their relationship yet. Just putting it out there. I was kinda hoping to work stuff out while writing the Valentine's fic I want to write for them. Not that I have any like... plot yet.
The two of them have a meet ugly because of course they would. Avery was likely helping themself to whatever Marvin grows in his garden. He caught them and was obviously angry. So while Avery is being kept mid-air by the wind, they try to ask Marvin's name to apologise. Marvin is just standing there "Is this asshole for real? Do I look stupid enough to fall for that?". He tells them to get lost and that if he catches them again, he's introducing something sharp and made of iron to their hands.
As Avery leaves, they think "Hmm, okay. Clearly someone who wants you to think twice before messing with them. Whelp, I've thought twice and I'm still gonna mess with him."
They keep interacting, much to Marvin's chagrin and Avery's amusement. Eventually, he has more than enough. Out of frustration, he confronts them.
"What gives?""Idk, I find it adorable when you act hardcore and use your magic as if you're powerful.""Oh, I'll show you powerful magic alright."
Then Avery owns him without putting too much effort into it. This makes Marv go into 'You Wanna Go?!' mode even more.
The fights gradually transform into training mixed with flirty insults.
For Valentine's 2019, he visits Avery's home. Because he is still part human, he doesn't feel well after eating anything a fae offered him. The day after, Chase asks why Marvin bothered to hang out with someone who annoys him so much. Marv just looks at him with utter confusion as he goes "Uh... because we've been a couple for months now???". At which point Chase probably walked off after throwing his hands in the air, muttering stuff.
In May, Marvin jokingly called Avery a cradle snatcher because they were now 500 years old while Marv was still only 27. Looking at the two of them together, you can’t really tell there is much of an age difference. Avery tends to go around as a ginger 20-something who likes wearing skirts.
Avery is aware of both the Anti and Sean situations. They've got Marvin's back if he needs it. I haven’t decided if Anti’s aware of Avery and Nyesha yet. But if he knows about Avery, he’s definitely going to stock up on iron to screw over both them and Marvin. There’s ‘Watching a Loved One Get Hurt’ whump potential in there somewhere but I’m not planning on anything particularly angsty with either couple yet.
I'm not sure how long exactly they've been together now. Definitely over a year. Either way, they emit Significant Nuisance energy when they're together. Significant Nuisances who deplete Marvin’s fruit supply as soon as they ripen in the garden.
