I personally headcanon that Nalu is pansexual and he has known it all his life. He never questioned his romantic feelings for his best friend Masaki because, to him, it was just natural.
So it was weird watching Masaki struggling to form words as they stood against the Oarai sunset. Nalu asks what’s wrong, and Masaki ends up blurting out his confession in a single breath. It ends with a “I’m sorry if you think this is weird.”
Nalu just laughs and replies, “It’s not weird because I love you, too, Corgi.”
