Tumblr’s Broken Itself And I’m Upset
So, Tumblr, in its latest attempt to stop the porn bots, has decided that it’s going to ban all posts with a link of any kind from the search results. This is pretty personally devastating to me. When I post fics for haikyuu, I post them as links to Ao3, and I just launched this new series I’ve been working on since May that I’m hosting directly on tumblr, but without having links at the bottom for “previous,” “next,” and “table of contents,” it’s not accessible to readers at all. Not to mention that no one can find my work in the main tags now, which is especially upsetting when I just launched a new series in a new fandom.
I’m not sure what to do about this. For the time being, the only way to help people find my work on tumblr is to reblog it, so I’d like to give a huge thank you to those of you who regularly reblog my stuff. It means more than ever now.
I have a pillowfort, and if you all want to follow me on pillowfort, everything is cross-posted there. I’m on twitter as well. Should I make a patreon? Is there a Haikyuu or a Guild Wars 2 community on dreamwidth? I’m really at the upper limit of social networks I can maintain, but if Tumblr is going to be this hostile to small-time content creators, I will be looking into other options.
Thank you all for your continued support. I’m not planning to leave just yet, I’d like to see if this gets fixed, but, I repeat, if Tumblr is going to be this hostile to small-time content creators, I will be looking into other options.
@staff @support I know you’re trying to get rid of the porn blogs but this change really hurts a large portion of your userbase. Please roll this back.
