So today I was talking to my therapist about how I can tell my new depression treatment is working because I want to write again, but I'm still dealing with horrific quantities of writers block and it's really hard. She asked me what I was doing for fun right now, and when I told her I've been watching a cdrama with a friend she suggested, in the most round about way physically possible, if I had ever thought of writing fanfiction?
...no, had never considered it, why do you ask? /s
#fanfic#fanfiction#mental health#therapy#writing talk#fanfic talk#masha talks#not writing#like the actual session was very frustrating because she misunderstood the problem#which is that my brain has for years failed to respond to 'i am doing hobbies' with 'chemicals that make me happy'#and now I have a ton of fear around my hobbies because I'm really struggling to believe that things have changed#and that my hobbies will feel fun to do#I have things I want to write desperately and cannot write them#and a solid 70% of those things are in fact fanfiction#and she thought that the problem was a lack of ideas or perfectionism#she's a good therapist but she seemed kind of out of it today#it happens#but if her first thought when I said that i like to write isn't that I like fanfic I'm not obviously nerdy enough and need to kick it up
