The primary school in my village is one of the most festive institutions in hinterland Guyana. For the annual Mashramani celebration, they held a parade and costume contest. Each grade had to make a different costume/theme. All the students and teachers were devoted to the project, and the enthusiasm of the students was ever apparent. The costume winners were grade 1: the pineapples, and grade 8: the wild cats. Other notable costumes: dragons, macaws, flowers, congo man, and a shark.
