Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag ten friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them!
Tagged by the lovely Maria
(List is in no particular order) 1: Saving Francesca- Melina Marchetta This is currently my favourite book of all time which makes me laugh because I found it when I studied it in English class. (I don't really love the books I study in school as a rule) It's beautiful, touching and very very real. I love the characters for frivolous reasons but I also learnt a lot from them and the novel really just connected with me and stops me from feeling alone. 2: The Truth About Forever- Sarah Dessen Currently my second favourite book because it's hella cute and makes me happy everytime i read it. I guess it taught me what kind of friendships and relationships I could have and that the best people, the people who will stick by you, aren't necessarily found in the most obvious of places. 3: Desert Flower- Waris Dirie If you want an inspsiring, eye opening read about a beautiful, intelligent and stong woman then this is the book. I read it first when I was 9,and now 8 years later I am just as, if not more, shocked and blown away by the courage that Waris possessed. She's an inspiration for girls everywhere. 4: Elsewhere- Gabrille Zevin "And there will be other lives for unpaid debts, for one-night stands, for Prague and Paris, for painful shoes with pointy toes, for indecision and revisions... And there will be other lives for a man you don't recognize, for a face in a mirror that is no longer yours, for the funerals of intimates, for shrinking, for teeth that fall out, for hair on your chin, for forgetting everything. Everything. Oh, there are so many lives. How we wish we could live them concurrently instead of one by one by one. We could select the best pieces of each, stringing them together like a strand of pearls. But that's not how it works. A human's life is a beautiful mess.”
5: The Host- Stephanie Meyer If there is a book with more beautiful characters and heart breaking relationships I haven't found it. I cried, I was surprised, It made me question the blurred lines between supposed good and supposed evil and rethink right and wrong. 6: Tomorrow When The War Began- John Marsden This series broke my heart and this was my favourite book in it. The characters were real, the story was believeable. It almost hit too close to home to be honest. It showed love amongst war though, gave me hope that friendship and compassion and bravery really can last in the worst situations. 7: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince- JK Rowling Lucky Number 7, the Harry Potter series at one point chnaged my life. New friends, new social media skills, new life values. I won't say i'm the biggest HP fan in the world but I will say that the series changed who i am- and this one just happened to be my favourite in the series. 8: Sloppy Firsts- Megan McCafferty If I was a book character this is who I would be- and i'm not saying this is who I would choose to be, this is literally who I am. Jessica Darling is the most like me out of any character I have ever read and I found it oddly comforting to read a series where she grew up and lived her life because it gave me hope that I too could live with the same enthusiasm, passion and happiness that she did. 9: The Faraway Tree- Enid Blyton Maybe because my Granddad read it to me when I was young or maybe because it is one of the most magical books in the world but I love this story with every part of my being. 10:Noughts and Crosses- Malorie Blackman This was a book I recieved at my year 6 graduation and it made me cry and it made me mad and it taught me the meaning of the word privilege. It also taught me that love and friendship can be stronger than the political ties that separate us for our differences and that's important to me.
