This lovely Victorian home in London is decorated in a mashup of decor from contemporary to faded elegance styles. It’s an unusual look and not easy to achieve. Take a look.
The entrance foyer has ornate stained glass windows.
Entering the grand entrance. I think that a painted runner is so much more practical than carpet on the stairs.
In the neat freshly painted entrance they left the railing worn and patinaed.
Nothing is detailed on the deep indigo wall- everything, including an empty picture frame is covered. It gives the room a dramatic effect. Notice the tear in the fancy French brocade sofa. That would be the faded elegance look, not to be confused with shabby chic.
They aren’t purists, though, b/c there are so many different styles in this room, that some don’t even seem to go well together.
This room with the faded wallpaper and orange radiator, leads out to the best spot in the house.
The conservatory is wonderful- the furnishings are colorful and artsy, yet make it look like an old garden house.
The kitchen is a complete mix of old and new. The table and chairs are midcentury, the cabinetry is modern, and the glass cabinet is original to the home.
The office is snow white for a more modern look.
The family room is decidedly modern.
This bedroom is completely modern and minimalist.
It also has it’s own modern tub.
This room is faded French elegance where the focal point is the old, upholstered brocade bed and dated drapes with cornices.
Added to the mix is an oriental lamp, bedding and end table.
In the window is an old brocade loveseat with mismatched fabrics.
From the bathroom is a view of the centerpiece of the faded elegant look.
This room is vintage French. It’s so interesting that each room is so different.
This lovely bright room is vintage and appears to be a guest room.
