TW for discussion of mental health, medication, and struggling with medication.
You can learn a lot about a person based on how they react to behaviors.
Like the people going after Dream for the medication in the Mask music video.
Some of you really don't know the struggle of having to decide between taking medication or not. Especially when it's essentially deciding between numbing half of your mind and decreasing your energy or trying to handle the aspects of your disorder that society deems inappropriate or invalid.
It's so hard some days trying to decide if you want to mute half your mind to keep intrusive thoughts at bay or to ward off the struggles that come with your disorders/illnesses. Sometimes the easiest thing to do feels like throwing it all out because it's out of sight and we don't have to consider all the weights attached to it.
The video was made for people who struggle with this to relate to it. The video wasn't made to encourage throwing out medication.
I know the teasers for this song got a lot of bad attention and a lot of people had to make arguments about how it's made for neurodivergent people. Unsurprisingly, people STILL paint the song and Dream in a bad light because they don't understand it or the meaning behind it.
If you are someone who is bashing the song and Dream because you think it's promoting bad behaviors or it doesn't make sense to YOU, take five seconds to listen to someone who actually struggles with this shit on a day to day basis. Listen to someone who has to debate over taking their medication or not. It's that simple.
