Mask of Lies
I remember when I first told you the truth, And I saw the flash of disbelief in your eyes, Then how you laughed and said it was just a phase, I laughed with you but was dying inside.
Over the years I've learned to wrapped myself in ice, Keep a smile frozen upon my face, Acting the part of a perfect daughter, All the while breaking apart inside, Keeping up the facade with a Mask of Lies.
You were so happy with what I've become, You were blind to the damage you've caused, This broken vessel with nothing inside, No dreams, no hopes, Not even a real life.
Then I've met someone just like me, But with a supporting family, Over time I've learn to take off this Mask of Lies, And learn what it means to be happy, Though in front of you I still put it back on.
One day they got on one knee, I said yes with tears of joy, You took one look as we walked through the door, Then I realized in my moment of true happiness, I forgot my Mask of Lies.
I still feel the pain of your hand on my face, The touch of my love holding me close, The sounds of both of you yelling, My heart breaking as I found out, You only loved my Mask of Lies.
I can't stand it anymore, I can't keep up this facade, this disguise, I'm not your little girl anymore, I'm refusing to wear again my Mask of Lies.
I finally felt free as we walked out the door, Though I still hear you screaming at me, Wondering where I went wrong, All I could say to you I told so the truth, Oh so long ago.
And then we were walking down the ailse, Everything went oh so happily, The only thing that was missing was you, Why did you have to be so blinded?
I know I'm not like everyone else, I know I don't love the same, But it shouldn't matter I'm still your child, Why did you force me to wear this Mask of Lies?
You're walking down the street when you spot me, Seeing me with my happy family, There's a girl there that looks a little like you, It breaks your heart you can never see her, You walk away with disgust on your face, Now who's the one wearing the Mask of Lies?
