Mason: How’s the little guy doing? Jane: He’s doing fine.. he’s going really quick. Mason: I can’t wait to see him. Jane: And when’s that going to be? Mason: I only have a couple of months left and i’m done. I’ll come and visit you guys in Sunset Valley once i’m done. Jane: Wait.. you’re not coming back to live here?
Mason called 911 and told them everything that happened. Luckily for him, no charges were pressed against him. Everyone was immediately sent back to their dorms.
“I... Can’t believe... my best friend... she’s DEAD!” Kate was screaming and crying like a maniac, and she had all the right to. Everyone else was already in their dorm room asleep. Her and Mason stayed downstairs where they could be together.
Mason stood up and hugged Kate. “I’m so sorry, Kate. According to the paramedics there must have been something in her drink that she didn’t process correctly and, well...” He kept hugging her tightly.
“She’s really gone.... I’ll never see her again...”
Around 5 minutes had gone by and Jonas hadn’t come back from picking a book. Rei walked around the small library to look for him but didn’t find him. He pulled Bianca to the side and told her what was going on.
“I’ll go look for Jonas. You stay here, Bianca. Stay here and wait for Mr. Hanes to take you guys out. I think I know who could’ve taken him...”
Bianca was nervously biting her nails. “Good luck...”
She walked back to the morning students, trying to keep a fake smile on her face. “So! Who wants to play truth or dare!”
Codi snarled at her. “Where’s Jonas? And that vampire guy?”
Bianca calmly told the two what happened. Mason was still upset about Kate but he was happy that Bianca was there, he liked her. “We’ll wait here with you, Bianca. Now, truth or dare?”
Damien ran to the room where Mason and Kate were, interrupting their alone time.
“Uh... Guys...I need you to come with me.”
“Go away, Damien. We’re busy.”
Damien’s voice was sounding nervous. “No, this is important. It’s about Kaitlin...”
Mason and Kate stopped slobbering all over each other and followed Damien.
Damien took them to another private room and on the couch was Kaitlin, lying down.
Mason just thought she fell asleep. “Sheesh, you give girl one drink and that’s enough for her to knock out.”
Kate was shaking her friend, trying to wake her up, but she wasn’t responding. She put her fingers on Kaitlin’s neck and was now checking for her pulse.
“She.... I didn’t feel her pulse... Oh my god... No, NO! KAITLIN WAKE UP!”
When Mason got to the dance, he spotted a girl wearing a tight, purple dress. He knew he had to go talk to her before Kate could see him.
“Excuse me!”
Bianca turned around and smiled at Mason. “Hello there.”
“You look beautiful. I take it you’re a night student? I haven’t seen you around school much.”
Kate was beginning to look for Mason, and had finally found him right when he was talking to Bianca.
“Yes, Bianca. I think your girlfriend is looking at you. See you around.”
Mason took a last good look at Bianca, caressing her body with his eyes. “Hopefully I will see you around, gorgeous.”
Damien and Mason quickly went to get their books for their first class.
“Man, this isn’t adding up. None of this shit is, Mason! I think I know who’s behind all of this... These aren’t just accidents. They.... They’re murders!”
Mason let out a laugh. Damien was never the kind to suggest such ideas.
“You’ve gone crazy, dude. Let’s go before we’re late.”
“It’s got to be a night student, dude. Clearly they’re jealous that they didn’t get accepted as a morning student... I’m going to check the night student’s lockers. Maybe there’s some type of clue...”
Mason started walking towards the stairs to get to his class. “Suuuure. I’ll tell the teacher you had to go to the bathroom. Just don’t take long!”
The door opened up from behind her and she recognized the voice right away.
“You called me in, Ms. Fortune? Oh.. Oh, hey sis. Where’s..?” Mason took a long pause and saw that Jenna was crying, tears running down her cheeks. “What the fuck happened? Where’s the dean?”
Jenna was barely able to talk, she was barely speaking out her words. “I-I do.. don’t know.. I just... Mason.... She was.... dead... on floor.... I just... wanted to sit... near the board....”
Mason managed to calm down his little sister and several minutes later Ms. Fortune showed up. They told her what happened and she called the paramedics to take away Ms. Mullins’ body.
“I’m so sorry about that, sweetie. She has been here for a very, very long time, and her health wasn’t exactly at it’s peak. Listen, Jenna. Go back to your dorms and tell everyone that class is cancelled for today, no need to worry anymore. The paramedics told me it could have possibly been heart failure. Go home and calm down. As for you, Mason. I needed to tell you to get your act together for this school year, because for the past 3 years that you’ve been here, your academic performance has been extremely lacking. Go back to the dorms and tell the upperclassmen that class is cancelled today for you all as well. Everything will be back up and running tomorrow.”
Ms. Fortune got up from her chair and hugged Jenna, promising everything would be better soon. Mason put his arm around Jenna and helped her walk back to the dorms.
Bianca and Rei were assigned to be with Jonas, Mason, and Codi.
“Alright, morning students. I am Bianca and this here is Rei! We are both night students and we were given orders to look after you three. There have been two deaths this very day in campus and teachers want to be very careful with everyone.”
Codi didn’t understand why they needed protection from other students. “What makes you two so special? Your colored hair?”
Bianca snapped back at Codi’s comment. “This is natural!”
Rei finally decided to speak up. “We’re not normal like you. I am a vampire, a member of a sacred clan.” He pat Bianca in the head as if she were a child. “This girl right here sees the future.”
Bianca shook off his hand and Codi had another comment against Bianca. “So if you can see the future why didn’t you do something so we wouldn’t end up like this?”
Bianca took a deep breath, but before she snapped back at Codi once again, Rei spoke on her behalf. “It doesn’t work like that, human.”
After a few silent moments Jonas got up. “Is it alright if I read a book in the mean time? There’s not much else to do.”
Rei nodded his head in agreement and Jonas went off to look through the bookcases.
