intro / mason xavier pendleton
“i’ve never seen any ever advertise pie, that’s how good it is.” ~ mason, probably
he will probably fight you on this
mason made his first pie at his mom’s side when he was six years old and he’s never stopped tbh
since he was little, his father expected him to follow in his footsteps
(idk what mr. pendleton did tina??? but insert ~attempted training montage here w/ mason trying but failing~)
mason spent all of his time in the bakery instead and it became clear that he was going to follow in his mother’s (rather than his father’s) footsteps
this caused a lot of tension between mason and his dad and for a long time they weren’t on speaking terms
mrs. pendleton had died and mason knew that someone needed to keep making pies for walcott but mr. pendleton is like ??? why?????
to make matters worse, cameron didn’t take up after their dad, either, and mr. pendleton was super angry about this
mason tried to repair his relationship w/ his dad but mason isn’t good at words and mr. pendleton wasn’t good w/ emotions and so while they started talking again, nothing was really resolved and their interactions were always strained and uncomfortable
mr. pendleton has recently been murdered tho and mason’s regretting never actually fixing things w/ his dad
despite everything, he would never, ever choose a different life for himself
making pies and seeing ppl smile (you do not eat pie w/ a frown c’mon) is literally the greatest thing
he’s super friendly and helpful
he never had much of a social life
he gets up really early to start baking and then goes home and collapses at the end of the day and it starts over again the next day
he sometimes tries to be witty and charming but of the time ppl are like ???? .... okay .... ~forced laughter/backs away slowly~
he does know he’s awkward and will be internally cringing after he tries to be cool
he’s that guy that does think of the perfect response to things two hours later in the shower and tries to resist calling you up to get you the perfect comeback (even he knows that would be lame)
can be something of a klutz
he LOVES this town SO MUCH
the only thing he’d change is the passing down of careers through the generations
he thinks people should be able to choose what they want to do
but tbh that’s the only drawback and he does think that (for the most part) this system has worked pretty well and he sees why it was put in place but he doesn’t think there should be so much pressure to follow your parents
the town council meetings are generally the most socialization mason gets
even tho he’s pretty quiet during most of the meetings and only talks when he has to
when it comes to witches, however, he’s surprised everyone by telling them that THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS WITCHES
and if there were witches, they would not hang out in walcott
“this place is so picturesque, it’s not their style.” ~mason, probably
mason really loves his bro
~dad!max thumbs up @ him for following his dreams~
doesn’t understand why he wanted to leave town and he def missed him but he’s glad he’s back (even if the circumstances are less than ideal)
mason gets nervous easily
pie making is a religious experience
