I’m reading this book right now and I love Mass Effect and Andromeda was the first game I’ve played in the franchise? It’s really good so far. My only problem is with Tann It’s not that the writing is bad. I just really hate him.
Like who the fuck moves galaxies and then is like yeah I’m gonna try and just embody everything everyone hated about the Milky Way.
For real, though he finds out that clan Nakmor has developed a resistance to the Genophage, and he takes note of that in his mind as a ‘problem to fix later’ which is fucking insane
And he tries to undermine Nakmor Kesh constantly. when he can’t get something from her because she is a reasonable levelheaded woman who knows that he is incredibly irresponsible (despite the fact that he claims to be looking out for everyone) he goes to her most trusted officer in an attempt to get what he wants, which is so slimy, no pun intended.
And if I went to any longer, it would just turn into a love letter to Nakmor Kesh
I finally finished this book and my God did it take me too long of a time.
I really liked it and more information on the Nexus uprising is what I craved when I was playing Mass Effect Andromeda!
This was good I like the drama and my favourite part was definitely when Kelly got her hit on Tann it took a while, but it happened in my God. Am I happy that it did.
I don’t make a habit of hating Salarians but it was so easy to hate him my God. And at the end, I felt so bad for Kesh. It sucks having to leave your community and family for the better for you and them collectively:(
And it sucks that Reg died. It was so fast too fast and his husband! we don’t get any more information on his husband!!!
I liked the scenes that took place with Sloan and Calix although when they did speak with each other, they were on separate grounds in terms of their positions, their beliefs lined up, and it was unfortunate for his side and their side that he was disposed of.
When playing the game I thought when the Crogan had left, it had been way more climatic than it was in the book, but I like how it was handled.
On the topic of the Krogan leaving spender during my next replay, I’m dropping you off of that fucking ledge you don’t even know what’s coming for you.
And by the end, I felt the most vindication when tan finally admitted to himself that none of this would’ve happened if Garson was still alive It was a beautiful moment and one that I savoured.
Making the point that you couldn’t solely pin the blame on a single person(even with my biased against Tann) felt realistic. Kesh was amazing and that she was quick to step in reinforcing the statement as it was.
I don’t know if any of what I’m saying makes sense but you know:)
My favourite character was Kesh hands down. Her perspective at the end of the book really solidified it for me and she even in the game was one of my favourite side characters. She has values and beliefs that she stands by and she is an intelligent woman who has worked so hard for her station and she was determined and a good leader. I was really bummed out at the end of the game when I wasn’t able to put her on the council that Tann formed:(
