Dessert. 😑 I genuinely think Lost in Abuja should stay away from Lagos Bistro next year because what we’ve seen here is, quite simply put, shege. Other restaurants put so much thought and care into crafting their menu and @lagosbistro said “Here, have the puff puff we usually give tables for free (as a distraction while you wait for your food) as your dessert.” No thought, no care, no excitement (can you tell that we miss Matthew from Uncle T’s?). The mains in the dinner set menu for Restaurant Week at @lagosbistro are very uninspired so we went with the safest option. Very dry jollof rice and an very generous portion of chicken. The chicken is the true star of this meal. Being a big fan of the Discovery Museum in Art Tech District, I saved @lagosbistro for the last @lostinabuja12 + MasterCard Restaurant Week visit. What a terrible idea. The waitress was not really keen on showing me the menu for dinner, and I should have known this was a sign because the dinner options are very……..sparse. Anyway, I picked from the only two areas where you have a choice to make, appetiser and main, and was looking forward to enjoying my fish peppersoup until I was presented with a rather large bowl of goat meat peppersoup and a squished bread roll. When I say you can probably sell me by promising this cookie in a pan from @unclets.ng, I’m not kidding 😂 The cookie is crunchy by the sides and soft + chewy in the middle. The ice cream is the most complex of flavours, vanilla, and these two elements are drizzled with caramel sauce. Exquisite. The Restaurant Week dessert options at @annsabujaa are this Victoria Sponge, this huge brownie + ice cream (swipe) and a fruit platter. As a healthy babe I would have gone for the fruit option but I had already eaten my quota of fruit for the day 🥹 The cake is baked well on the outside and really moist on the inside. The brownie on the other hand needed to be an actual brownie…not a chocolate cake…and the ice cream needed to be like 3 times sweeter + creamier, like real ice cream. My lactose intolerance didn’t even act up 😂 Overall, Ann’s was clean, filled with lots of light and the prawns were huge. Looking for something to eat this weekend? @annsabujaa is part of the @lostinabuja12 + MasterCard Restaurant Week! I had the Bon Appetit which is grilled chicken and potato wedges but there were no wedges available so I opted for mash instead. My friend had the Singapore noodles and I think the shock that came with realising it was good really cracked me up 🤣 If you need to Ann’s Restaurant props for anything, it is definitely their plating.
