ok but I am eating up the idea of Mastermind!Gonta for 2 reasons: 1) nobody in-universe would EVER see it coming, and 2) to make it more unhinged have it so his friendly personality ISN’T entirely fake. Like he genuinely IS a chill and nice guy But Also he likes putting his blorbos through The Horrors for shits. A real “If there were 2 guys on the moon and one killed the other w/ a rock, would that be fucked up or what?” kinda guy

Oh yeah god, it's important to me that a mastermind gonta doesnt suddenly become a new character, its still gonta, he's friendly, affable, he wants to help, he cares, these are his friends, friends he wants to give a good complex meaningful story to. His love for them even in his reveal is so so clear, and it's not in opposition to his crimes, but as a part of his drive for them.

That he actually didn't directly kill Kaede, and got the Nanokumas to do it for him, to keep Ch1 canon compliant.

I don't do straight cast reactions anymore, but I will do these!

It had been no secret before that Kaito and Gonta had caught feelings for each other during the game. It really was a shame they died one after the other in the trials.

Or did they? Nobody had thought either of them were capable of being the mastermind, but to find out both of the most trustworthy of them made everyone kill…

Everyone left was crushed. They had put faith into Kaito and Gonta before, and were betrayed. Really, how could they trust anyone else for the rest of their lives?

Of course, that was just what the masterminds had wanted. They relished in the despair in their “friends’” voices, the pure shock and terror of the mastermind reveal.

They were pleased with themselves and each other, laughing as the few remaining broke down. No way would they make it out alive, not with them all in that sorry state!
