Ashe and Mastiff are BEST friends. This is most likely started due to their separation from their families - Mastiff being separated from her family in Northeast Asia at a young age (idk whether to change human city names or not still) and never really having a connection with her family, while Ashe ran away from home purposefully as to escape her family's neglect after her father passed, and soon after become a revolutionary against the royal family. Even after they started talking under these circumstances, Mastiff is a lovable joy to be around, and it easily melts away Ashe's stern exterior.

Undersea Monstrin have low cost scuba-type devices for surface dwelling Monstrin mainly due to the Royal Family's influence, them feeling superior under the sea and basically going "yes come here with us you belong here under the water." I picture all this being AFTER Ashey Ashe takes down the royal government and she's the rightful leader of "the collectivist union of monsters", and she's just taking Mastiff here on a fun trip.
Also Vess!! I love Vess!! She was part of Trace's group to journey across the Equatorial Gas Barrier to the North, and lived in a hive-colony! Not a lot of bee monstrin leave the hive, but Vess is secretly a Princess!! So it was easier to leave. Vess is also nonverbal and enjoys expressing herself through gestures, sign language (which i feel like monstrin should have their own form? idk! ill probably just reference ASL when drawing her), and DANCING when happy!!! Mastiff would definitely dance with her just because she's happy too :)
I love Mastiff and Vess i love them, Mastiff is the talky one but shes shut up sometimes because people criticize the way she speaks, but Vess always listens and loves to hear whatever Mastiff has to say :) They are in love <3 they make silly music together and Vess likes to dance to it!
