Daily Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Weirdo Sketch - Mastodon Sentry
So... kinda continuing off yet also diverging from a previous post where I talk about Happy Chaos shooting Demi-Fiend, I had this idea of what could a mainline SMT fighting game could look like. Or what maybe some SMT characters as guests in Guilty Gear could look like? I'm gonna try making it a bit more of a general fighting game idea despite my fairly limited knowledge of fighting games. I play them but fighting games are very rarely my go-to type of video game. I know Persona has fighting games, so I may take what I can find about them and see if I can translate some things from those to something with mainline characters like Nanashi and Dagda. Let's get started!
NAHOBINO: I feel like he would be a bit more of an all-rounder, sort of the Ryu of an SMT fighting game. Or maybe the Sol Badguy or Ky Kiske of the game? Nahobino would have good long, mid, and short range. I guess for a Super more, it could be something like him using a Murakumo.
DEMI-FIEND: I feel like him being more of a Power or Rushdown character could be interesting. Both because most generally want to go with a physical build when it comes to Demi-Fiend and both feel somewhat in-character. He could probably play like a Leo Whitefang if you go Rushdown. Either Leo Whitefang or maybe Dai Shi in Battle For The Grid. For a Super, maybe something like Freikugal?
NANASHI: There is a neat idea I have seen for this, where it's like Nanashi's special attacks can be built around calling on his friends like Asahi and/or Gaston. Or if you want to go another route, calling on the power given by Dagda. For a Super, I guess going for the big attack where all his friends attack at once when fhe Gauge is full could work.
LUCIFER: I kinda feel like it can't just be the protagonists as fighters, that some of the bosses also gotta be fighters, and Lucifer is one of the most well-known bosses in SMT, to my knowledge. He could be a bigger, slower character who relies on hard-hitting specials for damage, with his Super being Root of Evil, maybe giving a random effect each time it's used.
DAGDA: Semi-related to the Nanashi ideas, what if Dagda is a fighter akin to Slayer from Guilty Gear, who is good about whiff-punishing with hard hitting basic attacks and specials, while maybe having a unique button or special where he calls in Nanashi to maybe deal or take damage. His Super could be Lost Hit, where he does a huge combo of punches before sending the opponent back with a final one.
NUWA & YAKUMO: I feel like this could maybe be a fun case of a Puppet Fighter type of character, where the attack comes more from what is summoned than the character. Maybe using the Persona 4 Arena control scheme, have it that two buttons belong go Nuwa's attacks while another two belong to Yakumo's attacks. Either that or some kind of swap fighter, where using a special you can swap between Nuwa as a Zoner and Yakumo as a Power character. I'll be honest, gotta think a bit more on their Super.
ABDIEL: I feel like it could be fun to see her as almost like a Ky Kiske type, a bit more specifically what I know of Ky in Strive. She's fairly balanced in terms of moveset, with a fair number of long, mid, and short-range attacks, with maybe a way to summon Dazai for help, and has a Super that changes her form and buffs her. Where Ky has Dragon Install, maybe Abdiel goes from her Herald form to her Fallen form.
TSUKUYOMI: It would be his fused form with Yuzuru, where he's wielding his scythe. I guess a sort of Testament-like moveset could work, but I could also look a bit more into other scythe-wielding fighting game characters and see if they can give me an idea. For a Super, it could be Paraselene Blur, where he does 4 Light-element attacks in quick succession.
YUZURU: I guess he could be similar to what I know of Ken & Koromaru, just with Hayataro in the Kuromaru role. He could be fairly strong and agile with maybe not the best durability, as he is still human. I think one Super could be one of Hayataro's skills, like say Carnage Fang, where if I remember correctly, he jumps and bites the opponent before spinning like a drill? Is that correct?
SPACE MARINE: The protagonist of Strange Journey. Okay, so, to some this may be a bit of strange idea, but what if his moveset is akin to that of the Mastodon Sentry from Battle For The Grid? Where he's got good melee attacks but also has a rifle that can fire shots when hitting a certain button, maybe with if holding backward as well he can use it to dive back for good distance if needed.
And that is all I got for now. I did say I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to fighting game movesets, so I did have to take some inspiration from games I have played, such as Guilty Gear Strive and Battle For The Grid. Maybe I could use some of my Mortal Kombat know-how as well, but it's been a long while since I played MK.

Drakkon New Dawn #2 Jolzar's Bardock – The Father of Goku homage variant.
Lord Drakkon’s New Power Coalition - Grimm Ranger
Taking inspiration Kyle Higgins Ranger Slayer, I wondered how and with what Ranger lore and elements Lord Drakkon might use to name and harness the rest of the original Mighty Morphin’ team to his New Power Coalition (had they not either died or resisted).
The “Grimm” Ranger idea has been bouncing around in my head for a long time and I’m finally making it more concrete as an iteration.
Essentially, the Grimm Ranger is a Drakkon controlled Zack Taylor and he serves as his lord’s personal executioner - it’s a play on Grim Reaper.
He’s the man Drakkon sends when he wants to instill fear and terror into the hearts of his enemy but, doesn’t have the time to take care of it personally. Think of the Grimm Ranger as the 501st Legion (aka Vader’s Right Hand) all wrapped up into one man (which could mean that Ranger Slayer is the Asajj Ventress to Lord Drakkon). In terms of his weapon, it would a blend of the Power Axe and Scorpina’s sword; fashioned together, they’d form the “Scythe of Darkness” and be affixed to a long chain that Grimm could use for mid ranged attacks. If ever backed into a corner, he’d be able to use the Cosmic Canon - renamed the Antimatter Arm - to devastating effect.
When it comes to appearance, his suit colors would be inversed and gradient with monochromatic black and white. Draped around him would be a sleet-colored hood and cloak; not unlike the Color 2 skin for the Mastodon Sentry in Battle for the Grid.
This color meant to project the fact that the Mastodon has control over ice and snow and the Grimm Ranger would emit a frigid, arctic zephyr of frost whenever and wherever he appeared; this is because his connection with Mastodon was so strong it transcended the zord’s destruction and became a latent ability that Zack could harness.
If an opponent was ever able to knock his helmet off, it would revealing piercing, spiteful yellow-green eyes (a clear indication of Zack being brainwashed with the same evil energy that controlled Ranger Slayer) obsessed with decimating all that is before him. Truly, he is Lord Drakkon’s glacial message of death; grim, indeed.
