Prompting weekend: MAWS Clark and Seg-El, maybe?

Seg stood at the top of the building and peered out. "This is your city?"

Superman nodded. "Yes, it is. I've been using my powers to protect it."

Seg leaned over the side and closed his eyes for a second, feeling the breeze. "It seems rather nice. I quite enjoyed the stroll we had earlier today." Left unsaid was the fact that Seg had to take the ground until he got the hang of flying.

Something in Clark unknotted at that. He walked closer to his grandfather. "You like it?"

"There's no place like home." Seg opened his eyes and turned. "And this place is your home. It's a good one, too. I see how happy you are and how much you care for these people. You honor our house."

Clark ducked his head to blush before looking up at Seg. "It could be yours, too."

Shaking his head, Seg looked up. "I appreciate the offer, Kal, but I can't stop until Kandor is freed from Brainiac."

I feel deeply that Reylo is going to be endgame for Star Wars and this is because that they (as a couple) are different than the other Star Wars couples in just the one way...

I’m only using Han/Leia and Anakin/Padme as examples here because that’s the movies and the medium that we are dealing with when it comes to Reylo. IMO one of the biggest similarities between these three relationships is the equality (or lack thereof) between the partners.

Anakin and Padme:

Anakin was a slave and Padme was a queen who became a Senator.

Anakin was strong with the force Padme didn’t use the force (That I know of? There might be some piece of small something in canon that shows her as being the slightest bit force sensitive. Whether she was or not - I’m still sticking to what we can see in the movies.)

Han and Leia:

Han was a “scoundrel” and Leia was a princess who became a general.

Han is not force sensitive and Leia is incredibly force sensitive.

Rey and Ben:

Rey is a scavenger and Ben has that Skywalker blood and eventually becomes the leader of the Knights of Ren. He’s got the whole ~dark prince~ thing going on.

Now... this is where Reylo sets itself apart. Rey and Ben are equals with the force. Snoke refers to Ben’s equal in the light growing as he does and immediately changes his mind about that being Luke when they discover Reys powers.

This is a BIG difference... these shared force powers set them apart because even though they come from vastly different backgrounds/family/etc., they are equals. No matter what their power statuses were before the beginning of The Force Awakens and no matter what they remain through the rest of the trilogy, Rey and Ben are equals in the force and that speaks volumes about how they would last as a couple.

These last 2 trilogies have sort of shown us that love doesn’t really work in Star Wars, but that’s because up until the end of this trilogy the galaxy hasn’t been balanced (That is me just hoping/assuming that the galaxy will be in a better balance by the end of this sequel trilogy).

The bottom line, I think, is that Ben and Rey are the first primary couple presented in the Star Wars films that are placed, in some way, on equal footing and that’s going to GREATLY benefit them in the long run. I don’t know how they’re going to get together and I don’t know what the consequences of them together will be (where they stand as far as light/dark/grey) - but I do REALLY think that we will have Rey and Ben by each other’s side in a romantic way at the end of the trilogy.

Why dont these antis realize that their whole "Rey was being lied to and manipulated into thinking Kylo is good" theory would literally be adapted into some of the worst writing for a film ever?

Film as a medium can be subtle. They could have tricked the audience into thinking that Kylo had 0% intention of misdirection when he did... But they didn't go that route. Its already too late to pull anything like that because we never get the seed planeted in our head that Kylo might have been lying or tricking Rey. That boy is too emotional of a being to have been able to pull that off. He is not tricksy enough or able to hide his emotions well enough to be lying to Rey the way that antis are saying he was.

Its the same as Rian saying "[Ben told Rey what he thought was the truth about her parents.]" Sure its only what he thought, but the fact that Rey came to terms with it and from there it is presented to the audience as the truth is a good indication that Reys parents are just gonna be those nobodies.

Basically... Its okay to not take things at face value. Movies can be tricksy and a great deal of films set up twists and plots that are meant to be questioned... But I really do not think that this particular film was set up like that. ESPECIALLY since theres no indication that he was ever lying - if he had been he would have killed her and not Snoke. AND especially-especially since it would be stretched across two films even though TLJ already has a neat resolution in him having not lied to her.

But like my personal best case scenario for that scene is like Rey has spent this time being trained by Luke and Kylo has spent this time training with Snoke and this scene with the hand and what not is like some kind of after the fact? Like... Okay so Rey is like ditching Luke and Kylo is ditching Snoke and theyre both kind of taking a step in the opposite direction from where they were??? So like Rey is turning away from the light, but not necessarily stepping into the dark and Kylo is doing the same thing by stepping away from the dark side, but not necessarily entering the light??? If that makes sense. I think it doesnt necessarily have to be shippy like it kind of makes sense to me if the end all of this trilogy is like bringing true balance to the force and what not. So you got two force users who arent necessarily using the light side or the dark side, but they are still real tough and shit. Yeah. Neat. Its 1:00 am.
