Anticipation is an important aspect of the level design of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, as the player is often shown overhead shots or larger sections of the level far in advance, with the game providing an implicit promise that they will be engaging in that space soon enough. However, one major way the game is able to circumvent and build upon that anticipation is by transforming the level in a significant way, such as with the Slave Ship section at the beginning of the game that turns on it’s side partway through.
