[REVIEW] SE Smooth Erase Mat Keep BB Pressed Powder
I’m back with a base product review that I absolutely adored! I wrote that in past tense because I’ve hit the pan in two months! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might be familiar with this Japanese brand under P.N.Y called Smooth Erase (SE). I have used many of their products because they are oil-free!!!~ My skin loves SE because it doesn’t break me out or irritate my skin.
Here are the reviews of the products from SE that I have tried:
Acne Care Medicated BB Cream (Natural 02) & Mat Keep Loose Powder (Natural 02)
Acne Care Medicated Concealer

I’ve always had my eyes on this pact because I thought it would be extremely useful during summer because it was aimed at controlling excess sebum and providing coverage. Hence, I decided to purchase this a month before I left for my vacation in Vietnam and Thailand. It was perfect for the occasion as it was compact and travel safe! This product is now only available in one shade which is a natural beige and is a perfect match for my NC25-30 skin! I remember last year they also had a lighter shade available, but now it is no longer on the website.

I must say that I am impressed by this BB powder pact! It provided great coverage while keeping my oily skin at bay (to a certain extent). I am super oily regardless what is applied onto my face. It also didn’t break me out at all! I used this pact almost everyday while I was overseas and it was so handy for the mornings in which exhaustion had gotten to me and the last thing I’d want to do is spend time on making my face look presentable. Too much effort! With this pact and a kabuki brush, my skin looked great and natural in under a minute! I received a lot of compliments while overseas with this powder~ I’ve never panned a base product this fast before!
However, what should be taken into consideration when using this, is that if you have any dry patches on your face, the powder will leech onto it and make it very very very noticeable. This is magnified when you use the puff provided, but I still like the puff though. Also, like most pacts, there is a plastic film separating the powder from the puff and it is an inconvenience when I am holding the film in one hand and trying to apply the powder with another. I would love it if the case had a plastic separator rather than a thin film.

Pros:
OIL-FREE!!!
Didn’t break me out
Great coverage
Quality of puff exceeded expectations (however, better finish with a kabuki brush)
Extremely easy for touch-ups (I brought this with me when I went snorkelling in Krabi!)
Packaging is simplistic and sleek
Cons:
Can emphasise on dry patches
Only one shade available
Wasn’t super long lasting (not really a con because I didn’t expect it to)
Awfully difficult to find (I bought mine through a personal order from http://www.ichibankao.com/)

Overall, I really enjoyed using this BB pact! It was convenient, oil-free and provided great coverage while controlling my excess sebum in a tropical climate! Basically, it has done its job! I would certainly reconsider repurchasing this when Summer re-approaches! However, the price can be quite steep in my opinion. I am currently trying out the Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder and it shares many resemblances with this pact but at a fraction of the cost! After I make up my mind on it, I shall post a review ASAP!
The SE BB pact is definitely recommended for people with oily and problematic skin who want coverage without the heaviness that comes with using liquid base products~
