New Odourless Shit
Plenty of neat shit going on related to the press lately:
Our spring launch on May 29 at The Ossington was a hit. Booze and books were sold in excess of expectations. All sorts of connections were made—I anticipate the launch of the first batch of Odourless babies next February. The Town Crier's Jessica Bebenek kindly reported on the event.
The following week, Odourless poet Suzannah Showler was included in the summer reading issue of The Walrus as one of "the six best Canadian writers you've never heard of." Her brilliant poem "You and Your Rich Inner Life" is included in the issue, which you can pick up at newsstands nationwide. Copies of her chapbook, Sucks To Be You and Other True Taunts, are still available. Congrats, Zani! Poet Michael Dennis reviewed Sucks To Be You on his blog, calling it "the bee's knees." Read that review (and many others) here. Last week, I, Odourless publisher Bardia Sinaee, was interviewed by rob mclennan as part of his titillating 12 or 20 small press questions series. You can read that interview here.
Have a sneak peek at one of our upcoming fall chapbooks, Life Savings by Mat Laporte, by reading his recent poems in Brooklyn Rail. I can't wait to bring you this new chapbook by one of Canada's sweatiest writers.
I'll be heading to Ottawa tomorrow to sell Odourless chapbooks and broadsides at Ottawa's Small Press Book Fair. The event is on Saturday June 15 from 12-5PM in room 203 of the Jack Purcell Community Centre (at 320 Jack Purcell Lane off Elgin Street).
Also in Ottawa, Odourless poet Jeff Blackman is launching his chapbook, So Long As The People are People, with (friend of the show) Apt. 9 Press on Monday June 17 at Raw Sugar Cafe. Also launching chapbooks that night are Stephen Brockwell and Christine McNair. As per Jeff's request, I'll be there with spanks on.
I'm still grappling with the buttfuckery of Paypal's merchant services, but by July the Odourless chapbooks will be available to purchase directly from this website. In the meantime you can email me at [email protected] to order chapbooks.
Our friends at Dragnet Magazine, one of Canada's premier online journals, have been kind enough to host an ad for Odourless Press. You can read every issue of Dragnet on their website, and follow their tumblr blog to find out when their next big party is (they've been throwing wicked parties and launches for a while now—Dragnet party babies are already working their way through the public school system).
