Well, my feelings are a bit everywhere in this update, but I'd like to point out something I've seen pop up, especially about Matcha Cookie and Butter Roll Cookie.
This game is a Korean-based game. When you read their interactions, Matcha and Butter Roll's dynamic is in a MUCH different light. So that is why you see a bunch of confused, angry fans verses the Korean CRK fanbase being like..."What's the matter with this guy? He fumbles so hard and is actually socially inept."
But any fan interpretations are still interpretations. I'm comfortable with the idea and possibility that HEAVY headcanons about Matcha Cookie's And Butter Roll Cookie’s dynamic is missing the mark with what Devsis actually wants. My interpretation of Matcha and Butter Roll is coming from my own projection as someone who is neurodivergent, and I'm aware that is my own bias.
I want to be optimistic and say I would take them teaming up together over him deceiving or hurting Matcha in the end. That is what it boils down to.
Either it's deception or something else entirely. We don't know yet, but what I DO know is I don't want to wish harm on a character because I don't like a ship or hyperventilating when they are simply existing together on the same screen. COUGH COUGH MELJAYCE FROM ARCANE COUGH COUGH
If he isn't deceiving her, I would lean on my more optimistic side. One thing I can lean on: a consistent thing to notice about Butter Roll Cookie is that he sees ANY cookie like an experiment. His hyperfocus, attention in investigating, spending resources on a cookie of intrigue IS the affection itself.
I'm able to support this by bringing up how we've heard his affection voice lines, we heard how he finds some cookies intriguing, and we saw a hint how he tried to make a cookie with Espresso Cookie's ingredients– someone that he has a connection to.
Just like his dangerous affection/hyperfocusing, his possible deception is also dangerous. I only just want the best, despite the odds. (Like imagine if some frantic scientist hyperfocused on you and was desperate to know, but we dont know what happens to you afterwards. Really not great position for any cookie of interest). I dont know what Devsis plans for those two, but they are just two characters of many, many plots, and we might not receive a fulfilling answer. I don't know if this is going to end up catastrophically for Matcha where everyone is pissed off, boos and throws tomatoes and sets the theater on fire, or if it's a terribly written dark-romance that confuses the audience and everyone boos, throws tomatoes, and sets the theater on fire. This is why I am so open about talking, really. Because no one can be certain. All I can do is look at dialogue, voice lines, and everything else including trying to learn and break down translation myself to see if there are any notable differences and tells....and I'm sure there are. I wonder how many are worth noting.
