Update on Matchmaker Mulan (1998)
Turns out Mulan is several years older than I originally thought (when I looked her up I got the 1993 date so I went with it). Her hair cleaned up nicely (though I’m surprised it wasn’t in worse shape considering how easily it breaks) and I looked up her on YouTube to get a better look at her hairstyle.
I also found out her makeup changes, which makes so much sense considering her whole transformation gimmick. I suspected it changed all along but it requires very cold water.
Hate how messy this looks, this is after taking her hairstyle out and redoing it. The hair is just too delicate.
She’s got this little defect on the right side of her face next to her nose. Maybe it was melted? Cleaning it with soap didn’t do anything. It looks like I could flake it off but it changes color so I don’t want to damage her by removing it.
I’ll have to make her an appropriate outfit eventually. I’ve never been that enthused by Mulan (not a criticism of the character, it’s a me thing) but this such a neat doll; fully articulated for the time, changing makeup, the hair gimmick. Completely in love with her, honestly.
