Just as a by the way, there IS a reason why math word problems include so much "useless" information. It's to see if you can separate relevant information from irrelevant. Essentially, it's trying to make sure you can pull out the important parts while ignoring the unimportant ones.

I'm gonna respectfully disagree here because 21 looks like a triangle so it's got more 3s involved generally, and 12 looks like half a heart which isn't even a goddamn ploygon. 21 is just better at being a multiple of 3.

it's neither of those, but it's all of those. red if i'm really enjoying the madness of studying it, blue when i'm only thinking about the textbook, yellow if i'm thinking about a certain problem while doing chores, green when the solution comes to me just when i'm about to fall asleep so i have to get up and write it all down.

but all my maths jotters were yellow in my 12 years of maths classes so I'm just gonna assume I'm correct and all experiences outside of my own are a farce by the government

Cool colours are green/blue/purple, warm colours are red/orange/yellow

Yellow is very close to being a cool colour – especially if it's not an orangey-yellow – so I suppose I will allow it.

It's also adjacent to green, which is the true colour of mathematics, so it has that going for it as well.

At least you're not saying it's orange. Orange is the least-math colour of them all.

In elementary school they taught us that pemdas was always multiply then divide, and add then subtract, because there were much simpler problems. But when i got to middle school, we were taught that multiply/divide and addition/subtraction were on the same level, you do whatever comes in the equation first. So we were taught that the same level stuff was needed for more complicated equations, so we didnt need it when we first learned pemdas. Its cool seeing all the different ways people learned

it's interesting to see what we've all learned in different places. I, for one, didn't even learn PEMDAS, and definitely did not have either in elementary school. But throughout middle school I was taught there's a very specific order I've gotta follow for every question.

So it really is cool to see how learning differs from place to place!! How we're all taught the same basic thing in so many different ways in different places!! That's literally the only thing I like about that cursed meme.

But ya know what isn't cool? Calling people stupid without considering the possibility that maybe, just maybe, there's another way to solve the problem. But ig they're all automatically assuming different answer = wrong answer lmao (despite the fact that the "wrong answer" is accompanied by solid proof!!)

but even if u do keep it in parentheses. 8/2(4). that makes no difference bc its not that u do things attached to the parentheses first its that u do things within the parentheses first. 8/2(4) is literally the same as 8/2*(4) bc 2(4) is 2 times 4.
