2/26/25 WIP Wednesday (CLOSED) | Math Nerd AU

Neil comes up to stand by Matt as he watches Andrew from the front door get into the elevator with the suitcase. “He didn’t need to be that rude about it.” He huffs.

“Well, it’s not like he has to accept it happily either.” Neil says, seemingly unbothered by the whole exchange even though he was the one that Andrew had been rude to.

Matt decides to let it go, he can’t be getting all pissy about Andrew Minyard’s bad behavior when at least Andrew was mostly a noble gas. As long as you didn’t interact with him or the environment around him then he wouldn’t react.

2-12-25 WIP Wednesday (Closed) | Math Nerd AU

The time between the revelation of Neil’s winter break plans and winter break is not a long time but as far as Andrew is concerned the time stretches for years. Between the fact that not all of his final exams have the decency to be exams, everyone else being stressed out about their exams or term papers, and the Foxes’ new sense of unity in regards to stopping Neil from going through with his winter break plans the time stretches regardless.

Andrew hates that Neil is going to the Nest for his break. He hates it more than any other member of the Foxes but he also knows that Neil has promised him to come back and that he’ll keep that promise come hell or high water. Neil has never asked for or wanted Andrew’s protection and so Andrew has no say in what Neil does or doesn’t do.

So he works on his papers, takes his tests, ignores Kevin’s increasingly passionate speeches at lunch, and when the time comes he takes his group to the airport.

3/19/25 WIP Wednesday (CLOSED) | Math Nerd AU

Neil and Moreau place their equipment into the lockers as well as their toiletry supplies for their post-training showers. “During your time here training with us you two will be paired together,” Riko explains as he guides them out of the locker room. 

“How will that work?” Moreau asks, bolder than he should be but Riko is trying to make a good impression.

“You and Neil will be doing the training for Backliners,” Riko says.

Moreau looks at Neil in shock, “But you’re a Striker?”

“Yeah, but I think it’s good to diversify, don’t you think Jean?” Neil asks with an easy smile to Moreau. Riko’s glad that his gaze is elsewhere because Riko can’t help the slight snarl on his lips when he hears that word in relation to Moreau.

3/19/25 WIP Wednesday (CLOSED) | Math Nerd AU

Riko takes the two of them on a tour of Castle Evermore where they’ll be training for at least the next two weeks, longer if Riko plays his cards right. Moreau was given much the same tour years earlier but there have been numerous remodels and upgrades since then so it’s different enough for him to get lost.

Neil has never seen it before.

“These are the locker rooms,” Riko shows them where they will be putting their things. He sees Neil looking at Kevin’s locker for a moment but doesn’t fault him since it is the locker right next to the one Riko directed him to.

Locker #3 while Moreau is in Locker #4.

Math nerd please?

3/12/25 WIP Wednesday (Closed) | Math Nerd AU

“I wouldn’t worry about it,” Neil says and his lack of care seems to bleed the anxiety out of Jean.

Andrew doesn’t hurry to the stadium but eventually an hour after they were supposed to be there they pull up. If Andrew has a fresh vanilla bean frappe from Starbucks in his hand as he does so, well he doesn’t care if they notice.

Riko Moriyama and Tetsuji Moriyama are waiting in front of the stadium for them. Andrew wonders if the two have been waiting out there the entire hour or if they have someone on lookout duty.

It’s all so fucking stupid.
