National Numeracy Day 2019
We were proud to be Champions of National Numeracy Day on Wednesday 15 May 2019. As part of the celebrations to promote good numeracy skills we encouraged staff and students at GIFHE to engage in a range of quizzes, challenges and games. Half of the population are thought to have poor numeracy skills with far reaching impacts. Our central challenge, set to the entire college, was the Four4s challenge (see video). This was great fun and allowed for collaboration across classes, departments and even over the web, through social media. Have a go and see how far you can get.
It was a really fun day and hopefully inspired lots of people to take the first steps towards better numeracy. We are looking forward to going bigger and better in 2019.
Next week see’s the first of GCSE Maths exams so fingers crossed and good luck to all of our learners.
