Magh Mela 2026 Prayagraj – Dates & Spiritual Significance
The Magh Mela is one of the most important Hindu gatherings that happens every year at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, a confluence of the Ganga, the Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. Millions of devotees come from all parts of the country and abroad to take a holy dip and perform religious rituals during the festival.
In 2026 too, saints, devotees, and spiritual seekers will again assemble at the Magh Mela for prayer, penance, and purification. The event reflects the deep connect between faith, culture, and tradition that has existed over centuries.
Magh Mela 2026 will begin on 3 January 2026 and continue until 15 February 2026. It will run for approximately 44 days, starting on Paush Purnima and ending on Maghi Purnima. During this period, millions of devotees will visit ghats to engage in the holy rituals.
Each day of the Mela has its own religious meaning, and there are certain days set aside for the big bathing or Shahi Snan ceremonies. The entire area of Prayagraj will be transformed into a large spiritual city with temporary camping, lights, tents, and holy chants echoing around the riverbanks.
