Depeche Mode, Basel, Switzerland (30/11/1984)

Dear Devotees, let's go back to 1984, my very first concert of DM: My best friend and I (16 years) had tickets for the concert in Basel, Switzerland and she tried to find the band during the afternoon in the oldtown of Basel. She was lucky and met Alan, alone with his camera. He was very friendly and after a Picture, he agreed a Little Sightseeing with her. After a Moment he said "Now I am lost, I am in your Hands" (he couldnt find the way back to the Hotel). Then he wanted to drink some coffee, but they both had no Money. They were walking close to the place where my Friend lived with her parents, so she invited Alan to the flat of her Family. When her mother came home and she saw "this Hippie" with leather bootts in the Livingroom, she was shocked. So my friend and Alan went back on the street and she guided him to his Hotel. Alan was so grateful and asked her to come with the band to the soundcheck!! She was waiting in the Lobby with soft knees, until Dave, Mart and Andy came. In the Tourbus they all went to the St. Jakob Hall, and she was guest of the soundcheck. During all this time I was working and didn't know anything. In the evening she came to me and was very excited, to tell me the Story. I was more than only speachless!!! Of Course we enjoyed the concert and 30 minutes after the end we could go backstage. Alan came to say hello and asked "Did you enjoy the Show?" We sat on the Floor next to Mart an Alan, when they made Interviews for the Swiss Radio. We talked only german with Mart, but he made a joke "Go to Andy, he is the one that speaks german" but we knew better….. Dave was so out of power and Joanne next to him. We didn't dare to talk to him. It was a very relaxed atmosphere with a lot of People in the wardrobe. We both came home one hour too late, but we dind't care. This is a day, I will never Forget. (The Picture in the wardrobe is in a bad Quality, but we had no Flashlights)
