I'll just give spoilers for my comic bc idk when or if I'll ever get back to working on it.
So Khalil's story was (is?) about What If you already defeated the big bad by secretly sealing him inside of yourself and now have to deal with the fallout of that? Like the big epic confrontation to free his home of a tyrant happens off screen before the story even starts in earnest, and because he has to dedicate so much of his power to keeping the bastard locked inside, he's Nerfed to shit.
None of the Big Bad's subordinates are thrilled about this and even if a good handful of them are now fighting each other to fill the power vacuum Khalil created (bc he sure as hell is not filling it himself), an alarming amount seemingly want to kill him, not knowing how or even what he did to create the vacuum in the first place. And they think it's going to be easy because he's this cowardly and pathetic looking little man, but he keeps managing to slip out of their grasp.
Meanwhile, the big bad who is very much not dead and is rightly miffed about being trapped inside a twink keeps trying to subtly influence him in dreams, in reflections, in quiet moments, and the more he fails at that the more aggravated he gets. And it isn't until a moment of pure desperation that Khalil even dares to use his power, (thus revealing to his enemies and allies just what it is he did) leading to some pretty devastating lasting effects on him.
Edit: this is also why I originally made him a Twilight bc the whole, sealing a very powerful being inside of you felt like a funny extension of one of the twilight anima powers lmfao
