Mandalorian Naming Sidebar...
So I realized something while partaking in a heated discussion over the names of a couple faves in a different franchise.. we have all apparently forgotten about patronymic and matronymic naming customs. I might have the wrong term so I'll give a description of what I'm talking about here:
Use of a parent's given name as last name. Examples include Thorson and Nicholaevich.
I'm sure I spelled the second one wrong and there are a number of examples modern, historical, and fictional of these naming conventions.
Why am I bringing this up?
Din Grogu.
If we use the patronymic/matronymic format then Din Djarin's last name might still be Djarin. It could still be that Last Name is coming before first and we don't know that's true because of Din's culture, a presumption about Grogu's, or something else entirely. It's also possible that Din started styling his name as F/N L/N instead of L/N F/N at some point. Who knows. I'm sure they'll tell us...eventually.
Enjoy my little thought.
