The Matses Indians are remarkably cheerful and friendly indigenous natives of the Amazon Rainforest. Other Panoan tribes such as the Matis, Marubo, and Shipibo are also known for their friendliness and illustrate the best of Amazonian life. Unlike some other Amazonian tribes that can be very aggressive, the Matses can be very amicable. That said, historically the Matses have had only two different ways of dealing with outsiders, either adopting them into their society or killing them.
