It's not often that I find a sample product labelled 'Dark'; to my frequent dismay, freebie items tend to be produced in the 'majority' shades (Beige, Medium Beige, Honey), all of which are too light for me to test on my olive skin. So you can imagine my delight when a fellow foundation fan handed me this little treasure from the maestros of Must-Have, Won't-Smudge makeup, Stila. Now, you know a brand is worth it's weight in gold when it's been a mainstay in every makeup artists' kit and makeup counter for years. With Stila's impressive range of never fail eye pots, liners and multiple colour compacts and lip colour, I admit I am surprised that I never took the time to investigate their equally competitive swag of complexion correction items to give you a photo-finish in record time! You cant go past a good mousse foundation to provide a silky semi-matt finish with even pigment and lasting coverage. Stila's 'One Step Foundation' delivers on it's promise to even skin tone, conceal and set your base eliminating the use of extra concealers and powders. With a semi-matte finish, this is a great staple for your winter makeup bag, perfect if you run short on time in the morning or have trouble applying multiple products to get a professional finish. The formula is light weight with a pleasant scent that is not really noticeable. I found the mousse consistency allowed perfect application with fingers alone and could possibly best be applied this way (again, one for those on the run)! Stila's range of complexion colors tends to be quite extensive with varieties of pink to yellow base, although I suspect more in the apricot-pink than the yellow of brands like NARS. Nevertheless, this is one product worth trying. Stila products are available at all Mecca Cosmetica counters but remember to shop online to get the best deal.
