Admittedly, the news of Cas’ betrothal had gone over about as well as a lead balloon. That had been a couple months ago though, and there were some things he wouldn’t accept ‘no’ as an answer for. It might sound bad, but he wasn’t about to lose Camilla because of some stupid political move. Not to mention that while Kat was  sweet girl, he didn’t think either of them had much interest in seeing the betrothal go through. Admittedly he’d been avoiding her brother too. It was a sibling thing, he got it, he just didn’t want to deal with it. 

Things with Cam the last number of weeks had been a little on edge. She  maybe at one time had an idea of doing the proper thing, and he could respect that. He just didn’t have much motivation to let it happen. Turning a corner in the halls though he saw her ahead of him, likely heading back to her princess, and he couldn’t help but take advantage of the opportunity. Grabbing her by the waist he spun her around and backed her up into the wall before kissing her passionately, but briefly. “Hey,” he said softly after pulling away only enough for their lips to barely be parted.

Who: Sandra Jones & Matthew Murtaugh.   When: June 10th, 1976. After lunch.  Where: Edge of camp.

Sandra had planned to wait until nightfall, but had thought better of walking along the side of a country road alone and in the dark. It was hardly safe by mortal standards, but for a demigod so close to camp, Sandra figured she’d better not take the added risk. Besides, while she had been informed that she wasn’t supposed to leave camp for her own safety, no one had said she wasn’t allowed to leave camp. As such, she’d determined that she hardly needed to run off like a thief in the night, and in any case making the walk to the gas station down the road would be a trip better taken in broad daylight. 

As she marched her way toward Half-Blood Hill, no one had given her so much as a second glance, and she wondered for a moment if anyone would even notice if she’d gone. It had been a strategic choice to leave during free time, when her cabin counselor would be less likely to notice her absence, but Sandra’s steps faltered before crossing the camp’s border as a small sense of doubt settled in her chest. Perhaps she should tell someone? The fear of someone stopping her was greater than her fear of what might happen if she left, however, and Sandra steeled her resolve. It would just be a quick trip to the gas station and back, she was sure it would be fine. Now if only she could pack up the courage to make her way down the opposite side of the hill.
