The gimmick of the level is that you must hide Claude in steam or Nikola will find him and cause a mission fail. Unlike Chiara, you can defeat Nikola and she won't return next phase. The route Claude takes is pretty linear, but leaves him open to three shocktroopers at the north side on the last leg.

The problem I ran into was that after having Kai repeatedly shoot Chiara in the face, and thinning out the opposition, I’d already gotten lost sending Claude chasing steam clouds. I kept getting frustrated trying to find a way to the goal, run out of AP for Claude, and someone would spawn next to him and blow him away.

Kino’s Journey Rant (thoughts on the new series)

So the original Kino’s Journey was one of my most formative anime experiences when I was a young teen. It was a show that showed the beauty and pain of the world in way that wasn’t over dramatic or opinionated, it just was. It is a show that has shaped my world views and genuinely made me care more about cultural differences and people as a whole. Kino was one of my first crushes. They were living a life for themself and no one else. They were not hard set in their beliefs and just went with the flow, enjoying the good and the bad that the world had to offer. They were not a pacifist or lawful in any way but they were neutral in a way that made them good. I both wanted to be Kino and be with Kino. This is, ultimately, one of the most important pieces of fiction in my life, and I doubt that will ever change.

The new anime is not the same old Kino. I do not think it is bad by any means, but it is not the quiet, slow paced, philosophical anime I loved. I think Kino is a hard show to mess up too horribly, as the content itself is almost impossibly good. I have not been able to read all of the novels but I have read some and enjoyed every story. I think that the new anime has not necessarily made any bad episodes, but has lacked pacing and put them in an odd order. I know the order was mostly based on peoples votes in Japan on their favorite Kino stories, but I do not think this was the best way to make these decisions. The most interesting stories in the novels do not always make the most interesting stories in an anime adaption. I also think that choosing only the most popular storylines has done a disservice to the way in which Kino thrives, which is by having the more ‘action-packed’ and exciting stories spread out so that they feel fresh and different. The stories where Kino gets involved are spread apart in the novels, whereas they are packed together in the new show. This is not to say that the episodes are bad, I just think that they would have a lot more impact if some of the more quiet and slower stories were spread throughout.

I think that the new show succeeds in its portrayal of Kino as a more chaotic neutral character. I wish that they had them and Hermes talk more in this show as their solitary conversations were some of my favorite parts of the old anime and some of my favorite parts of the bits of the novel I have read. I think that I am more keen on the old character designs because they portray Kino in a slightly less girly way and are more stylized, but I love the backgrounds and the voice acting in the new show. I definitely think that the new show is worth watching and I have greatly enjoyed some of the episodes (Country of Liars and the newest one Various Countries) but I think its main issue is in the pacing being based on popularity and not content. That being said I think that when all the episodes are out I am going to reorder them and see if I can find an order that I feel better suits the story style I prefer. This is all just my opinion but I would love to hear what other die-hard Kino fans are thinking.

(TLDR: New Kino has good episodes but they are put in an order that has made the pacing feel rushed and made the story feel less unique)

I gotta call bullshit on dumping on Kino. Kino doesn't have a rule against intervening, even when you take Kino's origin story into account. Rather, Kino prioritises staying alive and continuing the journey. Anything that gets in the way of these two things gets dealt with. Someone tries to kill Kino? Either kill or incapacitate them - whichever is most efficient. A country is blocking the road with no way around? Hitchhike on a bigger, moving country to bypass it. Kino is pragmatic, not moral.

What I meant is that, for the first half of the first series, Kino acts mostly as an observer. It’s important to note that observer /= completely passive, and that shooting people for self-defense /= shooting people to start a one-man coup de êtat. Colisseum was shocking and effective because it was the first time we saw Kino actively doing something to change the country she was visiting. In this new version, out of four episodes, two have had Kino literally overthrowing a government, and two had her giving military aid to a country with questionable to downright fascist motives (in the Ship country, the two things overlap, while espousing the idea that all the peoples are idiots and only a Japanese savior can fix their lives, now where have I heard this before? Oh right! the Pacific war!).

The new Colisseum episode makes Kino look like a psychopath, ordering the citizens to slaughter each other just because she can. I stand by what I said, the Mendokusai country was framed in such a way that an act of war -invading and destroying another country- was made to be acceptable. “Oh, it’s alright if we trampled X’s country’s borders, destroyed their crops and a lot of houses, they had it coming for building that wall”. The moral of that story is basically taken from the Orange Overlord’s textbook “Both sides are to blame, so it’s okay if one side brutalizes the other”.

Bich I do this for a living. If you're going to solder and heat shrink the wires, get the harness away from the vapour, close up the gap in the gas tank with a rag if it makes you feel better, and keep fresh air circulating through where you're working. And by the way, gasoline in its liquid state will extinguish a match. It's the vapour that ignites, so if your submerged wires short, they won't cause an explosion, but you pump and level sensor will likely quit.

That actually makes me feel better. And I used the Delphi watertight connectors they sent me with the pump but I didn’t have the crimp tool to do them well, so I did them as best as I could. Luckily I didn’t have to solder anything, I just took the pump out of the tank, assembly and all. 

The tuner told me it’s fine, the actual connectors from the pump to the hanger aren’t watertight stock either, so like you said as long as electricity can’t arc inside the tank it’ll be fine. 

However, while doing all of that I managed to not only get gas in my eye but also in my dick. I don’t know how I did it, but I did.

I also flipped double birds to the sky when, literally 30 seconds after drying the entire car, we got this torrential rain for all of two minutes. Then I had to dry it all over again...

If it is the mission I'm thinking of, I fielded Glory with Hafen and lost Glory on the starting phase, Ship Order'd Glory back, who was then 1HKO through the front armour by a boss. Somehow Hafen survived it all.

It’s the one with the destructible arches.

I think the first time I played that mission, they took out Glory but didn’t take out Hafen. This time they took out both right at the start so orders were off the table.
