@matteofares location: the animal preserve
finding out he was one of the chosen - whatever the fuck that even meant, ezrah had felt pressure built up inside him. that undeniable urge to perform — like when the captain put him on his first case after he'd earned himself the infamous promotion to wearing casual clothes at work. ezrah never meant to become a detective - ranks didn't matter to him so long as he got to do the right thing, but it still brought a sense of autonomy with it he found he greatly enjoyed & for the first time he felt like he was good at something. hunting killers had turned out his calling.
now, it seemed, he'd been called to do someone else's bidding & even though he didn't understand why artemis thought him worthy when he barely saw potential in himself as was. so he'd mastered the shift recently, but he was still lacking in every other aspect - including faith. he also didn't really care about the gods & their whims, he'd spent most of his life chasing another god's acknowledgment he didn't even know if he wanted his mother's now. he never had parents, why should he start now? yet she chose him out of all the others & that could only mean she was just as mad as him. maybe even worse.
he never meant to stay on ogygia. he came to get intel, that was all. that was all it ever was, but now? what was he supposed to do now? he spent way too much time thinking about that at the house, so he'd packed a small bag in the early morning hours (it was still dark out) of the second day & made his way to the preserve in the south of the island, sat on a clearing & ready to bid the moon goodbye for the day. his eyes glowed a gentle golden & his heart sung a melody only he could hear, but footsteps, a broken twig behind him cause for a quick turn, golden eyes scanning the area when his nose caught a familiar scent. not that they spoke before, but he caught the same scent at the house.
"you're pretty far from home. you lost or lookin' for something?"
