considering changing avery’s name to aleks and amelie’s to amalia??? because like. originally they were partially celts/gauls and that’s where the french names came from. but i really don’t want them to be mixed kids who are mostly white because i don’t like that. they’re major and complicated characters and i think it’d be annoying of me to make the most present family unit like… mostly white? and like.

ok i’m editing myself because i had a thought. Ribster brought up earlier that race and culture can be totally different. what if they’re racially scythian (i think i will count scythia as a region in persia)/greek but they grew up in gaullia? it could be mirrored in A/Z too—maybe in Z their parents are on a military campaign, maybe in A they’re just there for work or relocated for other reasons. that way they can be half greek/half scythian but keep the french names. it’s also an indicator of the disparities between their birth and their current reality. i hereby dedicate some wasians to ribster for their help in this matter. also, bonding moments between avery and rami being mixed kids with unexpected names.

oh, wrt the red hair: i think i could manage a throwaway line like, “red hair is half-expected in [scythia]! throw in a stray celt somewhere in the greek line and boom, you got me!” that way it’s like. a hidden genetic trait that only popped out when a scythian came along. i think that makes sense. :-)

ok so i do picture amelie with black hair and like those hazel eyes sometimes common in folks of iranian descent, matthias with black hair and brown eyes, and avery with red hair and grey eyes (take description from euripides maybe). i think they have various skin tones, with amelie actually being the lightest (still olive/tan), matt being the darkest, and avery being between them. [same thing applies to the mamanis too].

Last thing: I think Belskoe is a good surname for them. double check later but i like it a lot
