Matt had been lying awake like this for a while; just staring at the ceiling. His eyes stung with unshed tears; ones he had been keeping in for equally as long as he had been awake. He turned his head to look at the precious angel that lied beside him.
His face was soft and sweet and perfect unlike the gruffer Canadian’s hard features. “I don’t deserve him”, Matt told himself as he stared at Matthew. A trembling hand lifted and brushed curly locks out of Mathew’s face. Matt sat up and felt a tightness in his chest at the truth in his own words.
“How could I ever deserve you”, Matt murmured as he looked down at his lover.
Both were still naked from earlier activities and Matthew looked truly innocent curled up in the thick comforter with a faint smile on his unscathed face. The burning in Matt’s eyes intensified and a single tear escaped. The violet eyed man shut his orbs tight to try and stop any more water escaping. He gently swung his legs over the side of the bed and hunched his back. Hands covering his face as he desperately tried to control the pain in his heart. His own brain turned against him. “You only bring him down. He deserves better. One day he’ll realize it and leave. You’re so pathetic. How could you ever think that you are allowed this love?” The self-inflicted insults were only getting worse and Matt absorbed and believed every single comment.
His eyes were still tightly shut and while he was busy berating himself he didn’t feel the shift of weight on the bed or hear the glasses being grabbed from the dresser. It wasn’t until delicate hands slid up his back to his shoulders did he bring his hands away and his eyes snap open in shock. His stomach dropped , “Oh no.”
“Shh”, Matthew cooed into Matt’s ear. “Don’t be sad.”
His voice was like an angel’s soothing Matt’s troubled soul; such honey sweet words he could not resist their demands, “Matthew”, he breathed.
“It’s okay”, it was evident that the smaller blonde already knew what was going on, “I love you. I promise I always will.”
Matt turned his head to the side and starred at his little piece of perfection and felt his cheeks heat and his heart race, “Thank you Matthew… for loving me.”
“You don’t need to thank me for that”, Matthew laughed, “It’s easy. How could I not love you?”
