NYE Resolution: Week #2
Here’s what I’ve been busy creating in my second week since my NYE resolution to consume less and create more:
Announced my big news (I'm getting married) on my blog, and updated this Storify story to reflect the fact and introduce Lauren to more folks.
Created multiple more pages on my new wedding website.
Building another Storify sharing the social media reactions to our big news.
Doubled the items on my map on Foursquare using tips and reviews from the Hwy 61 blog.
Started building a new Foursquare list, touring the biggest tech companies around NYC.
Made up a new recipe for cooking with beer: the "Porter House Steak"
Bottled my latest homebrew, and started sketching out beer logos.
Made a whole slew of GIFs during my weekend Ski trip
Much more to come in the next 50 weeks.
NYE Resolution: Week #1
For my 2013 New Year's Resolution I promised to consume less content and to start creating more media. Here's what I've been busy building this first week:
Built a map on Foursquare using tips and reviews of local St. Louis spots using blog posts from the Hwy 61 blog I used to write for.
Drafted a web strategy and site map for someone looking to build a portfolio/resume website.
Shaved off my Movember mustache, styled it in various ways, photographed the various stages, and created a GIF.
Wrote 12 Top 12 lists of the best of 2012 on my blog.
Finished editing an infographic+report for my employer, which we released at CES.
Planned the perfect proposal, which was a success, and
Started building a wedding website (work in progress)
More to come in the next 51 weeks...
Social Media burnout? I'm just getting started...
At some point this year I'll reach these social media milestones:
1 year of pinning on Pinterest (since June 2011)
2 years photographing on Instagram (since October 2010)
3 years checking-in on Foursquare (since March 2009)
4 years photoblogging on Tumblr (since July 2008)
5 years Tweeting on Twitter (since September 2007)
6 years of status updates on Facebook (since November 2006)
7 years of social networking on various sites (Myspace, Consumating, etc) since January 2005
8 years blogging on various sites (since July 2004)
9 years politicking and meeting IRL on MeetUp (since October 2003)
10+ years publishing on the web
Also this blog post is #1000 on http://matthurst.tumblr.com marking a key milestone in its own right!
I’ve wrote before that Twitter has inspired a fixation by online marketers like myself because of how it can be measured. Since my previous post, Twitter has continued to grow its influence among newsmedia, brands, and consumers around the world. Even among experienced Twitter users like myself, Twitter use has changed significantly over the last year as the social network broke records and even breaking news. As of writing this blog post, marking my first 4 years using Twitter, here’s how I’ve used Twitter:

Yep, I'm there too; Let's share an extended play together!
