In a world where even revolutionaries too often find themselves lost among enemies of the individual and calls for self-sacrifice, the uncompromising egoism of Stirner is a breath of fresh air. So many communists, while rejecting God the Father, God the State, and God the Corporation, set up instead God the Community, a fearsome deity that Kropotkin called “more terrible than any of the preceding.”
Matty Groves - The Relevance of Max Stirner to Anarcho-Communists

Matty Groves is Matt Bullock and "The Magical Speckled Band" is his 2nd album. We covered "Aurelia" back in September 2024 and described it as "beautiful, haunting, and completely addictive. It really is one of those albums that demands to be listened to start to finish."
"The Magical Speckled Band" picks up where "Aurelia" left off and continues to fit all the descriptors mentioned above. This album reminds me of a couple of things. First, this sounds like something Numero Group might reissue from some obscure 1970s private press (kind of the like the Doug Firebaugh release covered here in November). This also sounds like a cross between Dick Stusso, The Caretaker and Candy Claws.
Matty Groves is based in Melbourne, Australia.

I’m pleased to announce that there are three versions of “Matty Groves” in the top ten of my Spotify Wrapped.
I know we don’t get much of a look into the marriage in Matty Groves, but like, if you’ve killed your wife’s lover and seem inclined to bump her off too and she still tells you she’d rather kiss her dead lover’s corpse than kiss you, it feels like maybe you had some part to play in the deterioration of your relationship.
