Sweet pea Maurou! He’s one who’s had his story overhauled a bit and really given some TLC. He’s a Warmaster for the Vigil now and Deadeye by profession! He’s still a kind soul who’s a bit soft spoken but means well. During the events of HoT, he ALMOST answered Mordremoth’s call had it not been for a few key fellow sylvari to keep him on track and resist falling for it. If he would have answered he would have ended up a Vinetooth (hence why his Mordrem Influence looks like that) Still, while most of the corruption reverted, his left arm is still messed up and the glow on that side/plus some other parts have been mutated. He sometimes partners with Sarabi and Zasammel for Order of Whispers missions at her request and encouraged to be swindling and mean as Human Thief Alistair al’ Mehr (see third doodle page) but sometimes that Knowing What’s Right Vigil Warmaster side just won’t let him.
-brushes off dust- Jeeze Louise I don’t use tumblr much these days...(I’m here on my twitter almost all the damn time)
A dump of doodles I did on my twitter account some months back I though I’d share here
At the bottom picture is a doodle line-up of what I thought formal wear for Vigil Warmasters would look like, each a little different depending on if they’re a light, medium, or heavy armor class and what their Warmaster rank is. @primordus , @imwithsalad , @saladposse , and @remnantofahero were kind enough to let me borrow their soldiers to be models!
How would Maurou react to actually 'catching' Ezaak? Would he be confused as to how the nice lil sylvari got caught up with Midas and Dandy? (Also your characters are extremely well written! Hope you have a good day!)
HMMMMMM
Well to preface I should probably update his story a little because I reworked it to where his “wyld hunt” isn’t to catch Midas’s pirate crew. BUT FOR YOUR ASKS I SHALL ANSWER THE BEST I CAN.
The way the situation was worked out was one night he was notified for Midas and Ezaak stealing huge haul from a large gathering of some sort. So in hot pursuit he and his small team tracked down Midas and Ezaak’s location. In order to spread their resources, Maurou went after Ezaak since he’s faster and the rest of the crew went after Midas who was weighed down with the loot (Ezaak was playing scout). After a rigorous chase over rooftops and across tightropes, Maurou finally caught up with Ezaak, cornering him and ready to bring him to justice.
Now it’s should be noted that Maurou has never faltered when catching a target…until now. He saw something in Ezaak’s eyes that had a strong nostalgia feeling, something Maurou had personally seen long ago. Irritated at the fact he was hesitating, Maurou asked Ezaak why he, a sylvari so young and so full of potential, would want to live a life of crime.
Ezaak told Maurou that Midas is able to give him that sense of adventure he’s craved ever since his awakening. They’re not cold blooded killers or run “harm anyone who didn’t deserve it”. If Ezaak had to steal the occasional treasure then so be it, if the bigger prize was exploration and a sense of adventure, he’d be content to do anything.
That was enough to break the desire to arrest Ezaak and subsequently Midas who had been on his hit list for a while. Empathy, surprisingly, accompanied with a sense of longing and a little jealousy ruled Maurou’s heart. With a small grumble under his breath and pursed lips, Maurou pulled back the handcuffs in his hands. He loomed over the small Sylvari, hoping to mask the disappointment in his voice. “If I ever catch you and your captain committing a crime here again,” he warned, “I will not hesitate to arrest the both of you and bring you to justice.”
Ezaak nodded and flashed a grateful, but timid, smile and quickly slipped away. Maurou watched the thief bound like a grasshopper off the walls and of into the thick of the city.
And that’s what happened when Maurou caught Ezaak and now bears the title of The One Who Got Away.
1. What is one thing others might find intolerable about them?
:^) why would you ask this one Caesar why
One thing is he doesn’t have a very commanding presence so being a Tactician in the Vigil one would think it warrants a certain presence that Maurou doesn’t quite execute. He’s got gentle strength and quiet power. It’s something you can feel not see which unfortunately, not a lot get to experience.
14. Is there anything they are too optimistic about?
Not particularly no. The fact that he’ll absolutely melt and do anything Vildwyn asks him to do might answer this question but not really. OTL
17. When would they be too judgmental of someone or something?
In the face of justice, anyone trying to plead their case or give their point of view/try to explain. Since he deals with slippery scum on the daily, he’s hardened himself when bandits would throw sob stories at him or try to make a bargain with him. THE SCALES OF JUSTICE WILL NEVER BEND.
