Day fifty-six - Ladder from Max Bullets
2016 TNM Premier League here we go
By: Andrew Cane Chilapondwa
The much anticipated 2016 TNM Premier League season kicks off in the next few hours in all the three regions of Malawi.
Teams ready for battle in TNM super league
Despite having unresolved issues with Chilumba Barracks and Dedza Young Soccer, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) defied all odds by announcing the day one and two opening fixtures.
Defending champions Big Bullets will kickstart their title defence at home against Mzuzu Based Soldiers Moyale Barracks.
Fresh from their 2-nil defeat over rivals Mighty Wanderers in the Chifundo Shield Cup, Bullets will be aiming to start the campaign on a very high note.
Spending more than K8 million on the transfer market by recruiting new players, Bullets are the favorites to bang all the three points at home.
However, it will not be easy to defeat the Soldiers who arrived in Blantyre on Thursday.
Head Coach Collins Nkuna told the local press that his charges are ready to end Bullets’s longest unbeaten home run.
In other fixtures, Kamuzu Barracks will play host to Civo Service United at Civo Stadium whilst Mafco FC will host Mzuni FC at Chitowe Stadium.
On Sunday, the biggest game of the day will be between Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers. The two teams had a season to forget last year when they performed below par.
However, it was the Bankers who got the better of the Nomads by collecting all the six points in the two outings last season.
The Nomads are coming from a disappointing 2-nil defeat to Bullets but coach Jack Chamangwana was adamant that his side will record a positive result against the area 47 Bankers. In other matches, Red Lions will host Epac FC whilst Azam Tigers will play host to Max Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium.
In other Sunday fixture, Dwanga United will play host to Blue Eagles at Chitowe Stadium.
Football is back, who will claim all the three points in the opening week of the league? Will Bullets defend the title? Battle lines have been drawn, enjoy the talent.

Exit Mpulula-Enter Kulemeka
By: Lackson Kanyoza
Barely hours after controversial coach Leo Mpulula stepped down as Max Bullets coach, the team has made a quick response by appointing Patricio Kulemeka as their new coach.
Mpulula: Exits
The Former Azam tigers and BT United coach yesterday dumped the Chiradzulu based side over a disagreement with Bullets’ owner Maxwell Kapanda on players’ contracts.
Mpulula said that it improper for players to sign a 3-year contract with K100,000 as a signing fee.
“There were 5 players who the technical panel gave them K100,000 as a sign on fee and should sign a contract of over 3 years. I told the technical panel that’s not justice.
At least, each player should sign a 1-year contract and renew the contract if we survive in the Super League due to the financial woes facing the team. How can a player sign a 3-year contract with just K100 thousand?” Wondered Mpulula who also dumped Epac FC over contractual disputes.
Kulemeka: Entering
It has also been reported that failure by the team’s owner to bring on board some quality players in readiness for the new season angered Mpulula who made it clear that he doesn’t want to see the team getting the chop in the debut season.
But soon after his resignation, Max Bullets chairman Gilton Chakhaza has confirmed that the team has hope in the former Surestream Academy director Patricio Kulemeka.
“Since Mpulula has left now we have acquired the services of Mr Kulemeka to be the head coach,” said Chakhaza.
Kulemeka’s appointment comes with over just a week before the 2016-2017 Premier Super League (PSL) season kicks off.
Max Bullets secured promotion into the TNM Super League after emerging champions of the Southern Region Football Association League.

Leo Mpulura dumps Max Bullets
By: Andrew Cane Chilapondwa
The foul-mouthed Coach Leo Mpulura had some disagreements with Max Bullets owner Max Kapanda over contractual disputes amid the failure to bring new players on board.
Mpulura dumps Max Bullets
With the Super League Season kicking off next week, Mpulura was yet to come to terms with the offer on the table by the team’s owner.
Just like at EPAC FC where he left by mutual consent, Mpulura wasted no time by telling Kapanda that he was not happy with the offer being given to him.
It has also been reported that failure by the team’s owner to bring on board some quality players in readiness for the new season angered Mpulura who made it clear that he doesn’t want to see the team getting the chop in the debut season.
Surprisingly, earlier this year Mpulura told reporters that his side was almost 75 percent ready for the season.
Efforts to speak to both parties proved futile.
