I witnessed and photographed a very powerful Butoh performance called The Fates by fellow Butoh student friends and dancers Shawn Escarciga with Max Desire and Beatrice VS. It was a 3 hour durational piece and 2 performances in one combining a piece by Brandon Fisette. The whole thing was accompanied by the ambient guitar sounds of Anders Edwards. Both pieces as stated by the artists were an exploration in the freewill found in restraint and the potential for alchemy when facing one's fears. All performers were restrained, blindfolded and bound for 3 hours in a beautiful and peaceful community garden in the East Village of NYC. I found the piece incredibly inspiring and powerful.
