"It was my fault... it was all my fault!" {Nathan}
From the instant the car had collided with the barrier, she had been preparing for this. She had heard all of thoughts about his carelessness, about his inability to drive, or focus. And she knew the blame was coming for him like a runaway train.Â
âIt was my fault⊠it was all my fault!â The words fell from his mouth along with a million other racing thoughts and she fought to keep up, but with him just out of reach, it was impossible to slow anything down for him.Â
She reached out from the gurney as far as she could manage, her neck braced, as the paramedics pushed her away. Her fingers wrapped around his hand, squeezing. And he fought to keep up, tears welding in his eyes as he stuttered through more apologies. âBreathe, Nathan. No one blames you. It wasnât your fault.âÂ
âHe wonât fit in the back. Heâll have to â â But Addie didnât even let them finish. âMake room. Iâm not letting go of his hand.â
