LET’S DRAW A DRAGON!

Welcome back drawers! Are you ready for another exciting (and helpful) drawing lesson? This one’s a good one because everybody loves dragons (even donkeys!) Are you ready? Here we go. Start with a gesture of your dragon, I mean you need a circle first and then a gesture but you get it now right?

Whoo, you make this look easy. Now, we need something to add that looks like a dragon…what would that be? That’s right, add a Ceratosaurus! They are super dragon-y. Just plop one of those in there….

…and BAM, you’ve almost got a dragon. Whoo Whoo. Yours is probably still better than mine but stay with me. Now, you’re almost finished, all you have to do is go down to that Halloween store that used to be an auto parts place last week, pick out a dragon costume and you’re done!

BOOM! Dragon baby! Heck yeah, nice work! Dragons sure are fun to draw, amiright? You can draw fire and effects now on your own.

These are character face construction tutorials for Shego and Dr. Drakken, created by Olivia Hughes.

Rather than generic “how to draw” sheets, these are model tutorials that break down exactly how the characters can be constructed to look like from the show—from head shape and facial axes to eye placement, expressions, and hair flow.

Shego Face Tutorial

This sheet walks through Shego’s distinctive design step-by-step, including:

• Her elongated oval head shape and angled vertebra line • Almond-shaped eyes with sharp inner/outer points • Precise eye-line placement and facial center alignment • Subtle curvature of the nose bridge and lips • Eyebrow shapes that define her attitude and expressions • The iconic heavy hair mass and directional flow depending on pose

You can clearly see how her face reads as confident, sharp, and controlled, even in rough construction stages.

Dr. Drakken Face Tutorial

Drakken’s tutorial focuses on exaggeration and asymmetry—key to his character design:

• Larger oval head shape, wider at the top • Round eyes (never tapered) with heavy eye rings • Thick, uneven unibrow that shape his expressions • Strong cheekbone and jaw emphasis • Nose and mouth placement that supports exaggerated reactions • Hair construction from widow’s peak to ponytail and sideburns

This sheet really highlights how Drakken’s design balances menace, comedy, and melodrama.
