Brec sighed as she climbed out of the Uber, leaving a generous tip and headed into the police station. Never in a million years did she think that anything like this would have happened and yet it had case in point. Her phone pinged furiously inside her purse making her sigh for the billionth time in the past twenty-four hours. It didn't take long for the media to pick up on the incident and once that happened there was no undoing that mess. As far as everyone who cared about her was concerned she was now engaged to someone dangerous.
But she wasn't. She may have not known a lot but she knew the difference between good and bad and right and wrong and despite what happened yesterday she had nothing to fear when it came to Max. Shutting her phone off she approached the desk and explained why she was there. Apparently the North Carolina system worked at the speed of light and once everything had been settled another officer walked from the back of the jail to the front. He was disheveled but not as injured as she would have suspected. Brec didn't say anything, mostly because she had no idea what she would say so silently they left the station.
