i totally agree! i think kate and santanico had the most cohesive arcs, but i really missed the organic chemistry and flow of the first season; this s2 plot just didn’t carry as well as the first and i was just disappointed :/

I feel like the lack of the structure they had in S1 kind of allowed them a lot of freedom, but I feel like in some ways they had too much freedom and wanted to make stuff happen, but kind of forgot that they needed to make stuff happen that would be the logical extension of a character’s actions? Hence a lot of plot device-y characters and weak characterization, unfortunately.

HONESTLY!!! THEY’RE SO GOOD FOR EACH OTHER!!! i could literally go for hours about how great audrey/duke is i just don’t understand why they aren’t married who dropped the ball here (also the “””new season””” is so good (but a little heavy on the naudrey so there’s that downside) but i don’t want it to end :///)

yes to ALL THIS (also imo this entire season was just lacking in character development as well as a coherent plot omg it was such a mess)

like I think Santanico and Kate were the most developed, complex, and had the most coherent, logical arcs and that's great, because I'm not sure I can say that about many shows when it comes to their lead female characters

But a lot of the secondary characters they introduced just became plot devices, especially when it came to the secondary female characters (who were used for plot, then quickly disposed of, which I am gonna write a meta about)

And the Geckos were all confused like they invented drama because they couldn't remember the organic drama they created in S1? Or something?

I don't know who Carlos is, like--do I account his behavior to the labyrinth, or is this his actual personality?

Like the prioritized the plot, but at the same time, the plot is also not explained. I keep wondering if all the rewrites Carlos Coto talked about created this incoherency? It's sad because the best episodes were, like... 3-5? and everything else was confusing and had good "moments", but as a whole fell apart.
