The VanHaunts and the Villareals were enemies for decades…generations actually. When Jacques and Astrid VanHaunt became involved it was hell on earth for the two of them, until the families finally decided this may be the answer to their ongoing feud. Jacques knew it would be, it would just be a matter of time.
Jacques was the oldest of four of Xavier and Lorna Villareal children. He was always thinking ahead of the game from the time he could make decisions. His family was slowly loosing their power throughout Windenburg, and when he met Astrid he knew what needed to be done. So he married her.
Astrid was the only child of Lionel and Margaret VanHaunt, a shy and timid young girl, but not naive, except when it came to Jacques. She excelled in school and stayed to herself and studied hard. At first she was not impressed with Jacques, and tried to avoid him, but soon he won her over by his charm. That charm was a guise, and after their youngest child Max was born, she has been trying to find a way out of the marriage.
The oldest of the Villareal’s children, Hugo Villareal is a junior in High School and loves history and food, but not in that order. His dream is to go to culinary school in Windenburg and become a Master Chef. A loner, and quiet, he is more like his mother.
Luna Villareal, however is the complete opposite of her older brother. She is outgoing, friendly and wants to be the leader of every club or organization she is involved in, which is many. She continues to tell her mother that she wants to move to Del Sol Valley when she grows up and be the next Oprah Winfrisims.
Max, who is just a toddler is already a handful. Astrid knows when he gets older he is going to be their problem child for sure.
downtown brindleton bay, a young girl sat on her bed. that girl being me, Loralai Tomilson. I heard a loud thump “mom?” I shouted and waited for a response, I got off my bed and opened the door and peeked out to see what seemed like nothing?
“mom? what was that?..” I opened the door and stepped out
“mom? hello?” I walked towards my parent's room.
“m-” my heart began to beat really quickly, I ran for the phone that hung on the wall and pressed down the buttons 1-800-644-5224. It rang,
“dad? dad. mom shes- she is hurt or.. I don’t know, dad. she-shes on the ground!” I stuttered speaking into the phone.
“what? oh my god!” he began to panic I could hear his heart beating, his heavy breathing.
“i-i don’t know she fell or something, I heard a thud and-and, so I left to check what it was and she was on the floor, dad. you gotta come home i-i’m scared what if shes-”
he took a breath “okay, im coming check if shes breathing, you know how to do that right?
I sighed, “y-yes”
“stay calm she’ll be okay, my love.”
“goodbye, see you come home quick” he hung up the phone
I let the phone end and ring. I ran toward my mother and I checked her pulse, she was alive. “oh thank god, mom I love you so much. hang it there.”
tears rolled down my cheeks. I couldn’t believe this I thought my mom was healthy, I thought she was okay, I knew she had diabetes but she and dad both said she was getting better, but here she is collapsed, I was in shock. I couldn’t believe this. but we had hope shes breathing.
the door lock jiggled, the door swung open as my dad ran into the house.
“where is she? wheres my beautiful beautiful wife?” he said crying
“in your room, d-dad come quick!”
“is she o-okay? is she breathing?” he stuttered with heavy breathing and tears rolling down his face
“moms breathing. you said she was okay, dad? WHY DID YOU LIE?!”
“I lied for you lori! I didn’t want you to worry she was doing okay, she must have forgotten to take her medication. but we can argue later lorelai mom might die! we have to get her to the hospital!”
“she isn’t going to die dad! have you even called 911 yet?!”
“they’re on their way, i called in the cab.” he sighed, “i love you sweetheart she’ll be okay I promise. I’m sorry I said that,” said, my dad.
the ambulance arrived and I jumped in the back sat in the corner while they were getting my mom inside the car, and cried. they attached breathing tubes to help her breath, it was like a nightmare I couldn’t believe it. how could I be in an ambulance?
we finally arrived at the hospital they rushed my mom into a room as fast as they could. she had stopped breathing. my dad told me to wait here while he went and stayed with my mom. I couldn’t bear to see her right now. I was to scared, I was to nervous to see her like this.
a few hours later..
“princess?” my dad let out with a smile
I got up from my nap I took on the hospital chairs. “is she?-”
he nodded “yes, she is” he smiled
“shes awake and breathing! oh thank god dad!” I ran towards my dad hugging him as he held my hand, we walked towards her room.
“mom! your awake!” I kissed her four head, as my mother picked up my hand and mouthed the words I love you.
“I love you too mom.” tears dripped down my face, “I love you so much”
the hospital monitor rang and stopped.
“no no no NO! mom!” I screamed
“melissa! no! you were AWAKE!” my father screamed with tears dripping down his face like a waterfall
the doctors rushed in. and covered her with a blanket, “we’re so sorry mr.tomilson and little tomilson.”
I tried to run back to my mother, my father grabbed me “honey theres nothing we can do.”
“SHE CAN’T BE DEAD, SHE CANT BE!” I screamed
he sighed “HUN, lets go sit outside, okay lori?”
after that I blacked out, I don’t remember anything after that. my mom was gone It was just me and my dad. oh my dad hes been so strong. I can’t imagine how hurt he is.
here we are 15 years later, I was so young then, I was scarred for a long time. but eventually, I accepted. my dad was upset and depressed for a long time the love of his life passed away. but same with me he eventually accepted that she was gone.
here I am now 23 my dad and I hang out 3 times every week I love him with all my heart, I’ll always miss my mother. but what can you do right? I never really fell in love with someone till I saw max. I was to afraid to commit because I afraid something would happen. I’d lose them, but I finally want to fall in love I want to be with someone so I signed up to be on the bachlor and to marry my love Max Villareal
