Breaking: Melanie Maxwell Had Her Baby!

The Maxwell Family shared the news, but no details, earlier today. It seems Maxwell–Maher #6 arrived in the early morning today, May 13, 2019.

Nathan + Melanie Maxwell Are Expecting Baby #6

ICYMI:  On December 12, 2018, the Maxwell Family Blog revealed that Nathan + Melanie (Maher) Maxwell are expecting their sixth child “in May.  Specifically, due on Abby’s birthday.”  Abigail Hope Maxwell–Maher was born on May 18—so, it’s pretty clear that Baby #6′s due date is 5–18–19.  As for when Maxwell–Maher #6 will actually arrive...  The Predictor is saying 4–11–19.

Were Nate + Mel Expected To Have Another Baby?

Actually, no.  The Predictor though that Melanie, Age 43, was out of the fertility race.  Apparently, the Predictor was wrong!  (It still thinks Baby #6 will be their last, though.)

How Far Along Was Mel, At This Announcement?

The Maxwells announced Maxwell–Maher #6 on 12–12–18, and the baby’s due date is 5–18–19.  Doing the math, Mel was 123 Days (17 Weeks, 4 Days) along, at the time.

Before this, Melanie actually had six other pregnancies.  (She and Nathan’s first child, Susannah, died shortly after birth.)  For two of those, we never had a due date to work with, so it’s impossible to say how far along she when she shared her baby news.  For the other four, we have approximate due dates.  (Maxwell–Maher #6 is actually the first one to have a definite due date.)  Anyway, looking at the pre–Baby #6 data, Mel typically announced at ~Day 80 (in Week 11).  It’s so low because she announced some of her pregnancies really early—like, Day 52 for Baby #2 (Abby) or Day 62 for Baby #1 (Susannah).  Her announcements varied by a SD of 28 Days.  Thus, Baby #6′s announcement at (123 Days) was +1.53 SD off of Melanie’s typical.  So...  Not quite typical, but not an outlier. 

When Will Maxwell–Maher #6 Arrive?

Melanie has a history of preterm deliveries.  Susannah was 8 Weeks premature.  Abby was ~5 Weeks Early, Bethany was ~2 Weeks, Andrew was ~6 Weeks and the other ? Weeks Early.  Given this history, it’s clear that Baby #6 will probably also arrive early.

Typically, Melanie delivers 37 Days Early.  If Baby #6 arrives exactly that early, he or she will arrive on April 11, 2019.  Here’s to hoping Melanie has a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy and a healthy baby!  

How Does Baby #6′s Spacing Compare to the Others’?

Let’s assume for a minute that Maxwell–Maher #6 does arrive on April 11.  How will that impact Nathan + Melanie’s overall spacing?  Well, so far, their ‘pace’ is 1 Child Every 725 Days.  (Note—They suffered from infertility early on, so I did not include their Marriage to Child 1 delay.)  Their shortest gap between kids is 424 Days (Susannah to Abigail), and their longest is 962 Days (Andrew to Ben).

Their current youngest, Benjamin, was born on February 21, 2017.  If Maxwell–Maher #6 is born on April 11, 2019, that’s a 779–Day gap.  Nathan + Melanie’s typical spacing would adjust to 1 Child Every 734 Days.

If they did have another child after Maxwell–Maher #6, we might expect him or her to arrive in April 2021.

I think the post says Anna Marie is 36 weeks along, not almost 36 weeks.

Okay... Not to be rude, but the first line of the Post literally says: “As we approach 36 Weeks in our pregnancy...” This clearly indicates that Anna Marie is almost, but not quite, 36 Weeks Along. If she were in Week 36, she wouldn’t be “approaching” Week 36... She’d already be there.

Now, that Post was from Friday. Maybe she’s 36 Weeks Along now, on Sunday. It’s impossible to know unless they give us more information.

Anna Marie Maxwell Facing Potential Cancer Diagnosis

Today (January 10, 2020), the Maxwell Family asked for “urgent prayer” on their blog, after revealing that Anna Marie, one of their daughters–in–law might be suffering from breast cancer.

According to the Post, Anna Marie noticed a lump in her breast awhile ago. Initially, doctors thought that it was hormonal, but then recently it began “growing rapidly and showing concerning characteristics.” On Wednesday (January 8), a surgeon who reviewed the scans apparently told them he’s nearly certain that it is cancer.

Anna Marie is currently pregnant. (Apparently, she’s almost 36 Week Along, as of January 10.) The Post indicates that there’s a good chance she will have to be induced early so that she can begin treatment.
