Overcast All Day from Santa Clarita to LA
May 23, 2023
OR clouds were pouring in over Pyramid Lake in the early afternoon today, and when we got into the Santa Clarita Valley it was overcast with “May grey” or “June gloom” type transmutation. The DORish atmosphere was quickly being transformed by OR acting on it, bringing soft marine layer clouds.
It was also overcast and cool in LA, with temperatures in the mid-60s. It rained in some areas this morning. We received a report of rain in Whittier. It stayed grey all day, which is very unusual with these types of clouds, which usually occur in the morning and then burn off.
The climate is changing with increasing OR, so new weather is to be expected. The environment looked like a different country from the Southern California I grew up in. Everything looked exceptionally green and vibrant with the low clouds hanging over the hills. Many flowering bushes are blooming throughout the hills as summer approaches.
